  1. Im not singling out Colo, this is just his thread. Taylor did much more defensive work in general. Pressurizing players, heading, blocking, tackling, intercepting. Colo was not consistantly nicking the ball away, ive rewatched the entire game & he did very little of note atall. Made a few interceptions that were passed right to him, won maybe one header, no tackles atall & no blocks. Taylor was the reason for the majority of their corners, has made several important blocks & was generally far more involved. The through balls i was talking about werent down to Nolan either, a couple came from their defence. He wasnt involved. He was involved for both goals though, id blame him more for the 2nd goal than Simpson. Simpson had caught up with his man again, Nolan let the cross come in as he did with the first. He also had a rubbish game.
  2. Do you think its only possible for them to see one area of the defence as being weaker than others? I didnt say anything about Simpsons side as that was obvious. It is possible that they didnt have one single gameplan. Colo didnt get turned because he didnt have the chance to turn around quickly enough, they played several in behind him. Neither were brilliant in the air, Taylor got several important blocks in and did more defensive work in general than Colo. You've suffered some form of memory loss if you dont remember this happening. You've contradicted yourself with the whole "no through balls", "but it happened because they had 3 men to deal with". You track the man running past you or you run out and block the guy with the ball. Colo does neither, he stands infront and attempts to intercept, because of that he has a habit of being taken out of it easily. He wouldve known he wasnt having the best game & that was likely what caused the 2nd goal. He's has weaknesses, but he doesnt make mistakes like that if he's feeling on top of his game.
  3. So dont get read/get involved as you've likely said to others in the past, seems simple enough
  4. Ive said i think Loven could be with a prem standard striker next to him. If you've taken Ameobi from that, then thats your own opinion isnt it.
  5. Nothing has changed. Last night we came up against a side who simply defended/fouled better than most we've played. He'll soon be scoring and be seen to be class again, the faults from yesterday have been there all season. Doesnt matter as much when you get goals which he has been. How many of Sholas goals would Loven put in anyway? Different types of player.
  6. They were knocking through balls behind him from about the 5th minute. They nearly got in instantly because of it. At one point first half Brunt got in behind Colo & it took Taylor & Enrique both coming across to crowd him out. They knew how to take him out of the game & he did little of note. Very reminiscent of last season, the embarassing defending for the 2nd goal especially. Taylor had a much better game.
  7. Some of you dont half exaggerate. He was more in the game than Loven & his touch was good most of the game. He took the ball down several times & was often fouled when he didnt.
  8. Pancrate on the right, Guthrie in the middle next to Nolan/Smith. I know popular opinion is now that Pancrates absolutely rubbish, but i think hes got more to offer.
  9. Played reasonably well first half, quiet 2nd
  10. It wasnt a reasonably weak header atall. Dorrens & Thomas made Jonas and Enrique look second rate? Totally outplayed? Your ideas are massively over the top. Both sides hit eachother on the break, they scored goals through our individual defensive errors. They had chances to score more as did we. They were better on the ball when neither side was countering, thats all.
  11. Agree Zidanny Guthrie sounds good though
  12. Next few games in general very important. Have Cardiff & Leicester coming up, so they need to raise their game to stay top.
  13. Nolans just slower off the ball in general, so i dont see him being able to play a solid part in either going backwards or fowards even if he limited his game to only that.
  14. Smith is living on the fact that he is capable of running and doesnt leave all the work to the guy next to him defensively. Nolan contributes little both defensively or attacking apart from the few minutes of every game where he'd get a goal previously. If he's not scoring, he becomes a hinderance to our general play. Smith doesnt as that is not expected of him in the first place, it is expected of Nolan if he cannot offer much going backwards which he doesnt.
  15. They didnt make any blinding defensive errors so we didnt have the opportunity to do similar. Nolan hit a tame shot coming into the area he shouldve done better with, Jonas as you say, their defender near scored an own goal on a ball headed back across. Loven took his goal well. They were better than us when we were behind the ball, on the break we were opening them up just as much & wouldve won if not for the individual errors.
  16. Just someone to take the blame isnt it. If its not good enough, must be the manager. I think individual errors cost us tonight, far more than any gameplan he set out.
  17. They scored from two horrible defensive mistakes. As much as everyones saying how well they played, the only time they properly opened us up was the chance onto the post.
  18. Sorry, i forgot how masterful he was for the rest of the game. Solid point
  19. Agree with bob. When we looked dangerous going foward he was usually involved
  20. You said your opinion hasnt changed atall. You hold a very strong opinion of how good he is, better than Taylor etc so it needs to be backed up pretty well. It wasnt today atall.
  21. How, he questions why i think a player could step up to the prem i give my reasons. He doesnt explain why he endlessly supports Colo regardless of performance. Seems pretty basic to follow.
  22. Whered i say that then. Jonas cocks up his own creativity, so its harder to be critical when he makes something from nothing in the first place. The only time hes cocked up when hes played in himself is when he shoots. I think he could step up to the prem yes as i think he'd suceed in a good team. What are your reasons then.
  23. I dont call Carroll a great player atall & i dont claim Jonas to be the best shooter. I dont think he needs to be. Colo needs to be able to defend though yeah.
  24. Its only a tiny bit of a windup. Im interested how a player who does that can still be seriously considered prem quality without someone having doubts.
  25. What do you think was going through his head when he stood 10 yards off from the only striker in the box who had just walked unmarked past him? Lack of concentration or just being a little bit rubbish ?
