Hes certainly become worse recently, you could say hes past his peak. He used to have more skill as you say, better set pieces and was quality at long shots. Almost like his skills have decreased due to the ease at which he has learnt to be set up ar Madrid, hes a finisher now who just wants more goals to add to his numbers. Tbh Bale was a better player in his last season at Spurs than anything ive seen since, that player was ridiculous. Better than current Ronaldo. Beat players for fun and put in last min 35 yarders near every week from half way through that season onwards. Im not sure going to Madrid is getting the best from these lads oddly. I suppose when its easier you dont have to create as much for yourself so those skills are less used over time. Hasnt affected the Barcelona lads though.

Don't think he's ever been consistently good at them. He was certainly better than the 1 in 15 he seems to do now. Other players used to practice his technique due to how good it was, Bale did anyway.

Agree with lots of that in regards to subs & Hodgson being a moron. Our best attacking play came from the fullbacks, walker set up Lallana a couple times. Rose smashing it across & setting up Rooney late on off the post late on. That is independant of any diamond or 4-3-3 formation. We wont get the best of Kane or Vardy in that side unless they play together though. Kane didnt get a chance, just as he didnt get a chance in any of the friendlies we played him isolated upfront either. Vardy got a tap in against the dutch in a game we lost isolated upfront. Why isolate our strikers to benefit wide midfielders in attacking roles? They're not Mahrez or Eriksen/Lamela/Chadli who all compensate via finishing ability or superb passing quality. We had Sterling who runs fast. You're not putting Kane/Vardy in the same position they are with their clubs. Even then they use the likes of Son or Okazaki at times to support. You need scorers. Said it before but Sheringham & Shearer beat the dutch in 96, Vardy & Kane Germany a few weeks ago. Hodgson is going to miss this opportunity unless we go behind and he is forced to go for it. Wayne Rooney shooting from outside the area. The attacking instinct needed to finish chances it what makes the margins. A cruyff turn in the box to get it back to 2-1 v Germany. A backheel from a near post run later. These are the margins Sterling & Lallana do not have. Kane has it, Vardy has it, Rooney has it thats why he came closest to scoring? There is no point playing one upfront. Rooney tonight w Vardy & Kane running up top and you're looking at chances galore.
