Pretty sure this is the case yes. Obviously we're sitting in a pretty privelidged position with FIFA (being the founders of football) meaning we're all allowed to play as seperate entities when actually we're all part of the same country. This obviously confususes the usual FIFA rules when it comes to naturalisation but I'm pretty sure if he was to take up British citizenship he theoretically could play for any one of the home nations. The home nations all agreed to a gentlemens agreement that none of them would ever cap players via the naturalisation method, not that this means anything contractually so any of them could just break this agreement at any time.

In the past he wasn't able to due to his U21 caps, however now FIFA has changed the rules and only a competitive full international game can tie a player to one country he is eligible. All it would take is to give him a passport and he'd be able to don the England shirt. The thing is that he still hopes to play for Spain and the FA and Capello seem pretty firmly against these kind of scenarios.

Nah, he's been shit for a while and would demand high wages. Like you said, he's also a cunt. We've had enough cunts over the years.

I've often wondered why supporters of other teams end up on here, and also how they end up staying for that matter. To be fair though, from what I can see they make up some of the best posters on here so

Isn't it 17-17 in terms of Scudettos between Milan and Inter? Surely it would be nice to edge ahead? Same goes for the Coppa Italia (however shit a trophy that is)

Just 4 points the gap then, still don't think you'll throw it away but it should have been pretty much wrapped up long time before now.

This is pretty crap from Inter atm.

Jason Cundy is a right twat.

He says he hopes to play for Spain one day. Maybe we should go Qatari and offer him cash.

Arteta, get him on that plane.

Middlesbrough vs Newcastle United - 13/03/10 - pre-match thread

I'm in Middlesbrough next Saturday (ana ), so I might go in the home end for this. I've never done anything like that, so i wonder if I'll end up celebrating if we score. -
A poor man's Shola. I can only disagree. I just told myself it was hyperbole. TBH, and I know this will sound patronizing, f*** it it probably is, but the majority who say he's s**** have never seen him for Denmark or for Birmingham. He has talent, he's still young and need to work on it however. His finishing is wank at times tbf, but he has alot of the attributes to be a top CF. Superb first touch, good in the air, physically strong, gets into the right positions (even if he does squander the subsequent chances). Interesting fact, he was the top scorer in the Premier league for players 21 or under last season. I think that just says it all in that people don't realise how young he is.

That's what I was thinking. Assuming Denmark do indeed play a 4-3-3 with 2 wingers, if that's the case there's got to be room among 5 striker/wingers for Lovenkrands.

Diamanti has some serious ability.

Nice to see Wilshere scoring.

Sorry VI. Really need to stop tempting fate.

Ohh man not again.

Ahhh come on man Nicklas. This is what happens when I defend a player so much.

Have I spoke to soon, Ronaldo pulls one back. If I'm right, Madrid are now playing something like this: Higuain Ronaldo Kaka Guti Van der vaart Alonso

Suddenly turning into a rather decent night for Barca after all.

Not quite, but that individual performance from him today would have certainly got him a man of the match award in many of our other games. Okay so he's a bit of a speed merchant with limited ability, but he does offer us natural width which is very useful. Some of his touches and passes were especially excellent today. after a nervy first 10mins his movement was very good. the win and lay off for the pen were very good. didn't he set upi carrolls very good in the first half aswell. caused them bother all afternoon. still don't think it's enough for him to still be here come the summer but credit where its due. I think his most important attribute is that like Routledge he gives us natural width and allows Guthrie to play in a more central position. It's not about the individual but how he effects the shape of the whole team. Absolutely agree 100%

no no no......why run the risk of injury through playing pointless games. I'd like to see him at the WC.

See how he does between now and the end of the season I guess. I don't think he'll be much use in the Prem, but he's definitely a good squad player to have around in this division.
