You would never have the car park that far away from the ground. It would be needed closer as its to serve officials, players etc. If it's to serve fans I wouldnt even bother with that.

Yeah I think me and Lucas both got good scores last week in part because we got 9 and 10 points respectively from that total goals in Euro 2004 question.

Not TV but I've just realised Next Goal Wins is available and included on Prime. Brilliant football documentary if you haven't already seen it.

Various: N-O has lost the plot over potential end of Mike Ashley's tenure

Definitely, I’ve expressed the same on here. It’s a lot easier to fuck a match off if it’s on some industrial estate next to an IKEA, rather than the middle of a city centre, 5 mins from loads of bars and a night out Said this for years. So what explains our (certainly when I was still going) extraordinary away support, when clearly the opposite is true, considering our fans have got to travel much further than any others? Away following is a completely different phenomenon and metric of measurement to home support. They are simply not comparable. We'll always have a good away following because we have a core of 5k who will follow us everywhere, and travel anywhere in the country, and a good amount of southern based fans for more distant trips. In terms of home numbers, you can undoubtedly attribute thousands who turn up simply because it's part of a weekend routine of drinking. Once you move that out of the city and make it more than a 10 minute walk from bars, loads of casual support will simply not bother, certainly during tougher times anyway. -
It was a helluva score from Nut tbf. I knew I wasn't gonna win, too many duff answers on high scoring questions. 4 different champions so far - good competition!

While I think it would be practically possible to implement the current Strawberry Place proposal and an extension to the Gallowgate I think it would result in a pretty rubbish street context between the two. A Gallowgate extension which also included an appropriate low-rise development on that site on the other hand could be incredible.

Mine's gone as well. Apologies!

I also think that Ashley would deliberately sell us to worse owners as a last fuck you (if the total money into his pocket was the same). -

I think it's inevitable that American owners with the clout to buy a club like Liverpool would be a success at Liverpool. You're buying what is essentially the finished article and fine tuning it into commercial machine ala a US sports franchise. With us it's different. I don't think anybody competent would buy us and we're more likely to end up with a Randy Lerner or an Ellis Short. We're so far behind now that we need some significant sunk costs to catch up. I think most only believe that will happen where making money and growing the value of the club is only half the reason for the purchase. I also think a lot of people are willing to give Amanda Staveley significant benefit of the doubt because so much groundwork has already been laid within the city. -

Ashley playing funny business again. -
Massive sponsorship deal with Aramco, inshallah

If you're an old codger this is much easier like. Not only do you have access to more players but there was a lot less moving around between clubs/countries.

Anar man. Just posting for shits and giggles. -
It massively restricts selection options when you pick Cronaldo but I don't think you can really leave him out. Oblak Lahm Terry Van Dijk Maldini David Silva Juninho Pernambucano Recoba Messi Mbappe C. Ronaldo Gilberto Silva may be a better option for balance but I was never a big fan of his.

Yeah Juventus is a different bag because they've always had pretty low attendances. They are a club that is supported casually nationally rather than parochially. When they play away you will see a hugely suspicious surge in the home team's crowd. Lots of glory hunters and this drives their commercial revenue.

Got them all with about 3 mins left

The more I look at those proposals from the 90s the more I like them to be honest. It actually improves the setting and value of Leazes Terrace (although I do love the current juxtaposition of the modernist East Stand alongside it), would retain most of the original layout of Leazes Park while also adding significant green space in extending it. Yes it's 10 minutes further walk from the city centre but a walk like that through an extended Leazes Park would be fantastic setting. You could have outdoor food stalls and stuff on a matchday - although this would definitely require paid clean-up afterwards. There is very little lost from it, other than open fields of cow shit on Castle Leazes (of which plenty more moorland would remain).

I think you could get 20k at the GIS if you build temporary stands behind the goal over the existing, and also infiled the corners. In grounds with a running track there's plenty of room. Another example that I went to recently was Brescia that has 3 temporary stands (holds 16k):
-
Cagliari have a temporary stadium at the moment which holds 16k and cost 8 million euros: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sardegna_Arena
-
Gateshead Stadium with mahoosive temporary stands!
