  1. Totally agree and this pretty much mirrors my experience growing up. There was a year when Hartlepool had £50 season tickets for kids (£100 for adults). I had season tickets for both NUFC and Hartlepool that year - as it worked out it was worth it even if I only went to 7 or 8 of the Pools games. If every NUFC game was on TV, I doubt I'd have ever gone in the first place nevermind ended up getting an ST. Even now I will often go and watch a Northern League game if Newcastle aren't on TV. If NUFC were on TV there would be no doubt I'd be in the pub watching it with mates. A drop of a few hundred fans for Hartlepool, or of 20-30 for a Northern League team, could be enough to kill them off. I have no doubt that every 3PM PL game on TV would destroy loads of clubs down the pyramid.
  2. There's no way the Saudis are this bothered about pushing through the deal. This will rumble on for a couple more months before it dissipates into thin air.
  3. I'll play. NUFC or general footy?
  4. All the back pages have dived in with this story, like. Got to hope it's just a case of reporting anything at the moment with so little to talk about. I do think this is going to run and run though.

  6. I think there's clearly some level of puppeteering going on with this woman tbh.
  7. I was obviously talking about biggest win the derby. It's their the most significant win since 1966. Not the sharpest tool in the box are you
  8. I've watched football in practically empty grounds, big and small. From the Northern League to the Korean third tier. The difference is that there is still some people there who are engaged, and being at the side of the pitch or in a ground is a totally different experience to watching on TV. Personally I find watching a Bundesliga derby, where there should be 80,000 people there, instead being completely empty and silent, just depressing. And it absolutely will change the intensity and context of a game. Perhaps to favour the technical teams - little surprise this was Dortmund's biggest win in about 50 years. The idea that I don't like football because I can't enjoy such an inhibited version of the real thing is nonsense. I could equally apply the same to you for being able to do so. But I didn't do that, it's each to their own.
  9. Yes, that's exactly what it was like. It was about as rubbish as they are.
  10. Watched 10 minutes of the Revierderby. Each to their own, but don't think I have any interest in watching football behind closed doors.
  11. The Mujahideen were supported by the west in 1988, when the photo was taken. Rambo III, released the same year, is all about Rambo heroically going to help supply the Mujahideen with weapons for their liberation fight, and the end credit dedicates the film to their bravery. Surely giving them weapons and funding is more notable than standing next to them while reporting on their actions? Yeah - this also included huge funding from the Saudis at the time.
  12. Atsu was effective enough on the break because of his pace and had some useful displays first season back, as rubbish as he is. Gouffran was no use at the top level. Got to question Rafa a bit if he genuinely wanted to keep him around.
  13. It's clearly nothing more than an unofficial blog writing about any news relating to the Royal Family.
  14. I'll have a walk up to the Prudhoe branch tomorrow and see if they kna the craic
  15. If so, the cyber sleuth has done a real job by infiltrating a public messageboard.
