Considering he was out of work, I'd have thought we'd get him for much, much, much less than that. I'd hope... I don't see the appeal of Neil myself, especially for a team like Everton, who should be pushing for top six/seven. I know you always get injuries and he's another body but I've never really rated him and he seems to be a white Ashley Cole with regard to his attitude and wage demands.

We can play Ranger off Carroll. He's got pace and plays that role for England U19 and the reserves/youths from what I've seen. He's played target man only because we had no other options. As for whoever said Carroll can't direct his headers? Unless he's got the skill to direct his headers back 20 yards they'll never reach the midfield, no. If Barton or Nolan bothered to get ahead of Carroll we might actually score. Ranger should do that though when we play 4-4-2.

I've always been against the idea of giving this excellent coach but unqualified manager the job on a permenant basis tbf. I've never even contemplated us giving Hughton the position! There is no way he is a manager! manager of the month tbh Our results have been lucky on the whole! Hughton up until this point has been lucky! This is going to hit us hard! He will continue to play Butt though! Every single manager since the SBR days have started Butt. I'm sure you was saying Hughton was lucky before the match as well huh? Butt is crap, who cares who started him in the past?

4-5-1 would've been fine as long as we bothered to get midfielders forward, it's not like Barton and Guthrie can't run.
