The World Cup might work against NUFC this year, as people aren't really going to be as arsed about them pretending to sign loads of players, given the backdrop of real football being played.

I've said this already but Hodgson has absolutely no excuses if we have a shite tournament this time. He's got an extremely talented squad at his disposal, the vast majority of whom are coming off the back of fantastic seasons. He's also got variety in there and, like you say, could play it this way or that way - any way he wanted to, really. I'm not saying we should win it (and I'm certain we won't), but I expect us to make a real go of it. Tough group and the climate are 2 ready-made reasons/excuses IMO. Personally I think we'll struggle to get out of the group.

I'm not sure I'm close to being broken in the sense that I won't keep an eye on goings-on. It's another blow but I'll keep watching games and going to a handful of aways each season to get the experience of going to the match with my mates out of my system. I am absolutely becoming less interested in it all though, I hope that the Protests board on here continues apace and I'll continue recommending hyphens here and there when I think they're needed, but people at work seem pretty amazed at my attitude these days - slag us off when we win, don't care when we lose.

There are 20 to 30 goals in that side, it won't be enough. We won't sign anyone as good as Remy, so 2 or 3 new additions will need to plug the gap. I do think we'll sign a few players in the summer though, it'll be dressed up as us splashing out when it won't even touch the sides of what we've brought in in recent seasons.

I don't know like, the squad we've got now would have every chance of getting relegated IMO, especially with the likely exits. Goalscorers are needed.

u wot m8 Tbf we were saying similar about Andy Carroll at a similar stage in each player's career.

If they get 10+ years out of him and he keeps improving at the rate he has done then it's a good deal, but obviously that's not guaranteed so it's a significant risk.

Being in the Premier League with this setup isn't any fun at all anyway, we'd lose nowt.

Another similarity being that we'll sell him for a fraction of what he's worth. Criminal that we made no profit on Bellamy and it'll be similar with Ben Arfa.
