Offering his woman to Pardew as a sacrifice would be a good start.

Ah well, fair do's. It's worth flagging up in case there's a simple solution but it's not much of an issue. Thanks.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
Interpolic replied to Pilko's topic in Football
I'd want him back sooner rather than later. His development over 12 months was astonishing (best I've ever seen in an NUFC player and I know others agree) and in the right circumstances he'd continue developing imo. He definitely has a problem at the minute though and the longer it goes on the worse it will get. -

It's entirely dependent on how long Ashley is at the club imo. Can't see us bringing him back with him in charge at all, when they burn bridges they burn them good and proper. A new owner comes in and wants to make themselves popular early doors and the timing and the money's right then it would be a go-er. One transfer where bridges certainly weren't burnt from either side IMO. Carroll has never said anything negative about the owners or the club, and think it's the same the other way round (iirc) Ignore the bridges burnt comment then, I think there's zero chance of it happening. Money's the main factor. -
Aye, I was. He had a few alright touches but I honestly haven't got a clue what anyone's on about here.

Cheers. Really used to the thing now btw, feels like a significant improvement.

Newcastle United vs Blackburn Rovers pre-match thread - 24/09/11 @ 3pm

I checked the odds on wor Hatem to score in an NUFC win and it's only 4/1. Don't think the odds are that great tbh but might stick a fiver on regardless. -
You could say the same about his desire to play Ben Arfa off the front man. Is that down to his footballing principles or the fact he couldn't get his board to spend a few quid on a striker? In fairness I don't care if it's by accident or design as long as the manager sticks to a good plan once they're on to it, look at Keegan's 4-3-3, or Robson ending up with Bellamy and Robert rather than Jeffers and Zenden.

Yep, OK again this is a minor one but if I do a post with a spoiler in it and then edit the post when you press 'Save' the post looks like this: ... and the Spoiler functionality has gone. I thought the spoiler was fucked and I needed to edit the post because of something I did, but when you click out of the thread and then in again then it's hunky-dory. Is just slightly annoying as it makes you unsure whether you've knacked up the coding somehow while you were editing. On Chrome btw.

Fair play to the kid as he didn't show himself up on Tuesday but I'm pretty surprised to read the glowing praise of his performance on here. He was very, very quiet imo.

Aye, fair point. Second half of the season we were missing the key player that had been responsible for the first half success. Barton and Nolan's form was linked and possibly even reliant on the success of Carroll. The team, from back to front, was basically built around his strengths. Take him out and we were a well-oiled machine missing the most important component. Not to mention the psychological blow of that sale (remember the Fulham game? first half vs Arsenal? the hangover was evident). The results weren't great but they weren't terrible in the circumstances. Even when we managed to stumble across a semi-replacement for Carroll in Best he ended up getting injured before the season was out. This is why I'm willing to give Pardew a bit of time to see how he wants to set up with the new players. Hughton built the side and had us playing a certain way, it's going to need doing all over again with the changes. We're still 1 or 2 players short of having a functioning side, mind, but lets see how we go. This is the kind of reasoning I was after tbh and you make a few decent points. Doesn't change my view much but it's better than this "Pardew is clearly a big upgrade on Hughton" rubbish.

Stoke and Stevenage were just as bad as Bolton and West Brom, if not worse.
-
Yeah, too much talking about this football lark like, does more harm than good.
-
I have to hold my hands up and give Pardew massive respect for the 4-4 result versus Arsenal and the 2nd half performance but even then you're ignoring the 1st half shambles and the fact that that wouldn't have happened at any other ground in the country imo, the result owed a lot to our fans being massively radged up at a perfect time in the game. But I do feel harsh saying that because Pardew definitely deserves a great deal of credit for whatever he said at half time, there's no doubt about it.
-
I'd be genuinely interested to hear what people think are Pardew's best performances/results so far btw, I'm really trying to understand this. Under Hughton we were a very inconsistent side in our first season back up, but we had a few games where we dominated the opposition which suggested we were becoming a side that could beat anyone on our day. In that instance, consistency is the next step. When have we dominated a game under Pardew? I can't think of many examples. West Ham at home springs to mind.
-
It doesn't really matter if we were 8th or 12th, we were well clear of trouble with some great results/performances under our belt and Hughton deserved the chance to see his work through. Was a fucking rank decision to get rid of him and I still stand by that, a whole list of fairly mediocre results since then won't change my mind about that.
-
A lot of what you're saying is entirely baseless imo like, quayside. The stuff about Hughton potentially being more of a pushover than Pardew when it comes to transfers when we have clear examples of Pardew being a total pushover (and more to the point a liar or at the very least a naive prat) when it comes to transfers, and no such examples for Hughton. Then in the same breath suggesting Hughton wouldn't have got as much out of that squad as Pardew when there's nothing to suggest that this is the case. You're presuming the most negative scenario for Hughton and looking at Pardew from some perspective I don't understand. Just because it's working out alright in September doesn't mean we were right to pluck this guy from League 1 when we were going fine as it was. As usual I hope Pardew proves me wrong and the team get my full support despite what I think, but I definitely still have my reservations about this guy and think we played better stuff under Hughton.
-
Slovakian farmers. Same goes for Roeder. Dunno like, that run we had under Roeder when he was caretaker was immense results-wise, and we played some decent stuff too.

-
Results. A few people are getting very carried away already this season like.
-
100% agree. I don't, whatsoever. And why is that? I don't get what people see in him at all. He's done a better job than I expected but how people can go on like he's a categorical upgrade on Hughton is beyond me.

Can't believe how bad our home record is against this lot like, it's incredible. Ben Arfa should be coming off the bench in this game imo and the sooner the better if we're struggling, not one of these 70-80 minute subs. -
