Bizarrely enough this was the top result when I Googled it: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufchistory/number9stats.shtml Since Shearer there's just been Martins and Carroll. Carroll had the honour of wearing the Newcastle number 9 shirt and he decided to go to Liverpool ? What an idiot he is (or probably is) ! Holy shit, you really know the right things to say. Suffice to say, I agree, yeah.

Unlucky not be ahead though. Hit the post twice, wrongly denied a penalty and forced the keeper into a point blank save from a well worked set piece. Are Rwanda showing enough hunger in your opinion? I'm sorry.

The atmosphere's electric btw.

Probably why they bought him, play him for 80 minutes, take him off and score an instant goal. Great buisness. Boring the opposition to prompt a lack of lapse in concentration later on, it's very clever.

Bit boastful like.

Brummie cunt? Piss off man, a joke's a joke but he's sound as. -
:mackems: :mackems: :mackems:  This Ethi-Ronaldo 'feud' is one of the best things about the forum at the minute.

I think the way he conducted himself when Pardew came in was great too. If rumours are to be believed he was banging on the door every day asking for his chance and when he got it he managed a hattrick. Fair play to him, we need more characters like that. Absolutely.

But... they're fit! What the fuck!

We spunked £6m on Xisco, £9m on Luque, £3m on Andersson if you want to go a bit further back. I'm not convinced you're going to get someone better than Best for £4m, therefore I don't see the point. The fact that he's fairly settled and doesn't seem the type to rock the boat counts massively in his favour as well.

Fair do's. I'm perfectly happy if he's 3rd or 4th in the pecking order once the season starts, but he's just as likely to stop scoring and go back down a division as he is to establish himself as a half-decent Premier League player imo. I've been at a good few games where he's been thoroughly anonymous.

Not to anywhere near that extent. Agree, especially since they were playing for a UEFA cup spot that day iirc. Concentrate on your own team. -
By saying he was impressive against Bolton and Everton? Yeah, high praise. Arsenal too, btw. How good do you think he is then?

I have it on good authority from my mate's dad who is a bit senile that Charlie's surname is pronounced "Zognobia".

Tbh Ronaldo, I personally don't think anyone will be looking back in 5 years time and going "you know what, you were right - that Leon Best is a smashing Premier League player". He's shown very little to suggest he's much to shout about at all imo and he could go one way or the other. I'd rather keep him as a member of the squad but you seem to be going a bit loopy over him.

You've never been the same since that injury tbh.

I'm inclined to think this myself. These pay-as-you-play deals are often talked about and rarely signed. It's not even rumoured to be a pay-as-you-play though. Fair do's, 'heavily incentivised' then. We're led to believe that the vast, vast majority of footballers make over 90% of their money through their basic wage.
