depends on how likely he is to stay at Liverpool in the summer, if he is staying (and taking into account the sheer amount of Liverpool connected pundits) then they'll let it go. Opposite if Real Madrid get bored and want someone new to show off

I'm finding it hard to explain to people right now. I'm determined to stick by Moyes. I want the longevity and I believe he can be successful at Manchester United. However, it's the simplest of tactical decisions that he just isn't making. I don't understand it. I can maybe, maybe come to accept that he doesn't rate Kagawa, some managers just don't fancy a player. He's making mistakes all over though with numerous players and they just seem so glaringly obvious that it's hard to come out and support him afterwards. I mean, I'm never ever an expert at this sport, but what was it about his Everton run that makes you think he's the guy? He did a very good job at Everton IMO, but his record against the top teams is something that surely would frighten any Man U fan? That and the fact that Everton are way better now than when he was there. You have to give Moyes credit for where Everton are now like. They also aren't "way better" now compared to when Moyes was there either, they are sixth now (with a game in hand, tbf) and they finished sixth last season. and a lot of it is built on the good work of Moyes, sure Martinez has improved the quality of the football in an attacking sense (not that Evertons football was bad last season mind) but the defense is Moyes work.
-
that was down to Fergies brilliance and general incompetence of those around them, neithers a factor this season
-
yep, needs a new defense and midfield and probably a new strike force soon as Rooney doesn't look like signing a new deal and RVP is back to breaking every week

Like Everton selling Fellaini for £27m and getting McCarthy for half of that I suppose. The big reason Everton are where they are is not McCarthy but Lukaku and Barry or did you forget they signed them also even if it was just on loan. You just stay in you secluded little shed and w*** off over Ashley as he continues on. Two loan signings. If we sold Cabaye for £27m, got Cabella and two loans, I bet you'd be unhappy. f*** all to do with Ashley this. Yeah of course it is f*** all to do with him but to answer your question where are the two other signings then - average of 50,000 and your trying to say we should accept going nowhere - smell the coffee man will you or will it take another relegation charge to do that. Eh? What is happening here happens to every club in the world bar Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Man City, Chelsea and now PSG due to their money. Your taking the p*ss? - only loan signing in the Summer which is below any other club in the Premiership never mind world football DESPITE making a profit last year and the multi millions from the Sky deal Fwiw, until Fellaini left, the only signing Everton had made during the summer was Barry on loan. If we'd sold Cabaye to Arsenal in the summer I guess we'd have signed someone else too. Alcaraz and Kone ? you know I'd forgotten they existed

not for this season, doubt there would be a profit for last seasons ones considering the jan spend without that much in sales.

Did we magic up a top 5 quality side (according to at least one person on here) out of thin air? Ashley's not some evil lunatic ffs. If we can get better players for a realistic price, of course we'll invest. Where's your evidence that we'll ever spend more than we bring in on transfers? Eh, none. Not sure where you got that from, I'd be absolutely staggered if that happened as I can't see us spending more that the club can finance itself any more. I do believe the quality of the team has got progressively better over recent seasons. If that's the case, then I'd say that's evidence enough that we're not adverse to investing in players and improving. I mean in terms of having more going out on incoming transfers than comes in via outgoing ones, not living beyond our means. Ashley saw fit to take around £12m out of the club the season before last while not equipping the squad for a Europa League campaign, he also chooses not to sell advertising space which might give us a few more quid to spend as well. I'll be very interested to see the next set of accounts with all of the additional TV money being received and us being the only club in the country to spend the square root of fuck-all last summer. He equips the manager to survive in the league fairly comfortably, nothing more. won't be until next year those ones.

indeed so lets wait and see.

If we can get better players for a realistic price, of course we'll invest. Well no, we could get players for realistic prices but our valuations fall below that. We're tighter than a Nun's bumhole unless a player is very cheap. Cisse aside i cant think of one who's come in in the last couple of years for what they're really worth. Maybe Anita. But Debuchy, Sissoko, Gouffran, MYM, Cabaye and even Santon to an extent have all come in under their real worth imo.. you know normally thats considered a good thing I agree, we've done brilliant and the powers that be need praising for it but since Cisse we dont throw in a well, a Cisse type transfer. It's seems now solely about bargains and cheapness. Ambition i suppose but that Cisse type transfer on top of bargain hunting is the difference between us finishing 8th and challenging for the top 4 imo. Everton with the McCarthy transfer as an example for other clubs trying to get there, Southampton with Osvaldo. worth pointing out Everton only signed McCarthy after selling Fellaini. As for Osvaldo, not exactly been good. I get your point but a large fee is no guarantee of any kind of success in a transfer. I find our transfer policy very frustrating more in the way it doesn't actually try to address the weaknesses in the squad than no large fee's. I'd get over that if it was smart buys where we need (ie a striker a wide player and spare rb).

Lee Ryder @lee_ryder 2m No firm bid from PSG, just prices being bandied around by French press. PSG are interested in Cabaye but no bid yet #nufc gone by tomorrow then

I am curious about any actual journalistic sources to this

It'll be someone else next. I am absolutely 100% convinced AP is on a bonus for % profit on transfers. I really would love to know where this daft notion came from apart from ridiculous paranoia Here's where it comes from................ AP is pretty much the worst paid manager in the top tier. MA pays all of his key staff bonuses based on performance in every single one of his businesses. It has been widely reported that MA has given AP an 'incentives' based contract - Llambias said so when he was in charge in his programme notes. Given that we know the top 4 is a pipe dream and unrealistic the next best thing is Europa league which we know the club don't want. So what is AP's target? Finish as close to, but not in, the Europa League every year and he'll get what? A sports direct mug? If MA's incentive is to tick the business over in as positive a financial state as humanly possible to attract a buyer at a premium, AP is absolutely vital in that. Which other managers would accept their best players being sold from under them and be completely complicit in it? What is the incentive for AP? Can only be financial. Call that paranoia if you wish. I'll call it reality. he has nothing at all to do with transfers so why in gods name would Ashley pay him for one? and as for the bold, anyone not in the champions league, its not nice I don't like it but the gap between the haves and the have nots is huge and only getting bigger.

First time for everything I suppose. Fellaini cost significantly more than this for fucks sake. throw in english selling to english tax, a moyes tax since they were stupid enough not to use the clause they had to be aware existed and late window desperation tax
-
Well said, that would be horrible. imagine the commentators wondering where they discovered such a talent
-
thats modern football for sides outside of the champions league club.
-
curious wouldn't have thought he'd have wanted to move prior to the world cup. Also curious that we'd apparently make the deal dependent on getting a replacement.
-
now thats a red
-
thats not a red
-
wish someone would get Mata out of Chelsea, someone of his talent should never be on the bench as often as he is
-
Back next week aren't they? no one has a clue probably not even Moyes
-
well at least this makes this mildly interesting
-
basically this season without Rooney they look very very ordinary and he doesn't look like signing a new deal any time soon either.
