Why would Tottenham sell him, is there another Capoue i'm unaware of ? recall something about them trying to sell him earlier this window but could have mixed that up with someone else
-
Ba too, everyone knows about the clause but nobody forced us to put such a ridiculously small minimum release clause in there. could have been that or he goes elsewhere who will meet his demands
-
I'd like to know since when is £20m (ish) not considered "stupid money". Football truly has lost the plot and the sooner it collapses in on itself the sooner it can be fixed.

How's that like? The club is raking in an absolute fortune. because at best its short term, if the trend of buying no one continues we end up like we did last season flailing about near the bottom and desperation bids in jan which may not work again. And once your out of the prem that raking in a fortune turns into costing him a fortune
-
seriously what the hell is his actually plan or is it make it up as you go along, get a decent scouting system working with the ability to spot good players undervalued- sign players only as a last resort and then decide to fuck it up by putting JFK in charge of it. If his plan is to actually try and make money out of the club then he's in the wrong business because standing still in football is going backwards
-
its things like this that make me glad he's still banned.

I'd have personally said Ashley is 99% of the reasons why the club perpetuates a small-time mentality. What Pardew says is a complete irrelevance he has 0 say or input on ins and outs

Exactly why our policy of not getting a replacement in first is fucking mental. And why the thick cunts running the club cant see it is beyond logic. because the club isn't run on football terms but business terms its as simple as that. How does that work when the price of player we want to buy is pushed up because they know we have lots of money. Of course, we just dont bother with the buying bit the club waits until the summer to replace him, lower prices more prep time and from ashleys pov avoid any possibility of europe We've bought just Anita in the last two summers so that theory isn't playing out well. the only previous on this was post carroll so applying the same logic as then as to now. Of coarse JFK and logic..................... Thing is we dont need to rebuild like before, well not as much imo, it would be nice if we bought a couple of players around the £10m mark. Ashley hates it but that's the going rate nowadays. It would be nice if I won the lotto too and thats about as likely as that tbh. Expect 1 or 2 in at somewhere around £5-10m none of which will be anyway similar to cabaye (and given how the clubs worked they'd probably be cbs) and will not be Remy.
-
suppose it depends on what Cabaye said to them, in theory he could have said he'd use the Webster Rule in the summer if we don't sell now.

Seems petty to think its too low considering its by a fair distance the 2nd highest fee the clubs ever got but can't help but feel that, probably would have gotten more if it was to another english club tbh.

4 days would still be plenty of time for any other club, who had a player in mind they genuinely wanted to buy. I'm beginning to wonder if 4 years would be enough for dear old JFK. Still nowt else to do but wait and see then get angry over it
-
Scott Wilson thinks its £20m
-
4 days left to do something then..........
-
curious it hasn't been drawn out til friday 10pm to maximize the too late to replace him line

so basically nothing at all worth mentioning

If you loan a player before buying to see how they do it should be at least a season. How many players struggle at first? I doubt we would have signed Debuchy or MYM based on their first 6 months. yep also leaves us vulnerable if he does well the list of buyers increases and what loyalty does he really owe us if someone like Arsenal for example came in?
-
at least it would actually be addressing an area the squad actually needs improvement on though I'm not convinced by the loaning thing.
-
We aren't in a CL spot or fighting for one. So we should be rightly be worried, we can't offer Cabaye that. What is so bad about that? I'd be wondering why we're not fighting for one? because ashley won't invest in the squad enough to do so? We have the basis of a squad that could be up there but its lacking in areas

as with anything in life the truth lies between 2 extremes, he isn't shite thats obvious. However he does tend to get fairly overrated on here especially the longer he isn't in the team. How is he over-rated on here? What is it exactly that people are saying other than he's a quality player who should be in the side? I just feel his ability and potential to impact games can be overstated, not a major thing or anything just my own general opinion. Would I rather he was in the team sure but for me its not as big a deal as is generally thought.

Spurs sell their best players and spend every penny they get from the sale to try and bring the club closer to Champions League football. That's the difference. I agree with that totally. But it's not the point here. Most PL clubs are vulnerable especially if a player wants to leave as Cabaye obviously does. Yeah I agree, but it's not necessarily a negative thing. It depends on the mindset the selling club has. I get the impression we'd rather hold on to the cash and see how we get on (because we're safe), and if we struggle then buy in the summer. Probably buy cheaply too, hoping to get someone we can sell in a couple of years similar to Cabaye. It's desperate and it's a cowardly way to run a football club. the theory of it is sound, buy cheap sell high and try to improve each time, the application by us unfortunately is focused too much on whats good value compared to what the squad needs.
