  1. Ronaldinho arrested in Paraguay with a fake Paraguayan passport. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-51778788 Dude isn't allowed to leave Brazil because of unpaid taxes.
  2. That would be seen as the league trying to circumvent worker rights and wouldn't stand on court. The reason we have transfer fees is that our courts ruled in the 1980s that sportsmen had the same right as any other worker to walk away from a job. The fees are an indemnity. It would be better if it didn't allow transfers, just signing free players or promoting players from your B team outside the allowed age range.
  3. Can't really remember the circumstances of it but Barca letting him go is up there with as bad as any of the transfer decisions they've made in the last 10 years Was it not just not having enough game time? Village Idiot[/member]? Not enough game time triggered a lower transfer fee. He'd also been injuried lots that season, so it wasn't entirely our fault. We wanted to keep him.
  4. Essentially La Liga has a rule that allows you to sign a player to replace a player suffering a season-ending injury. It has been invoked many times, not just by big guns. That said, I see little point in buying Braithwaite, just throw Fati in there and see if the kid sinks or swims. That's how Xavi made it to the first team ffs.
  5. So, it looks like our board has been paying a troll farm to set up several fake twitter accounts defending the board and attacking the opposition, even critizicing some players. Like, kill me now.
  6. CF Badalona Celta de Vigo Valencia FC Barcelona Inter Newcastle Yokohama I'd love to sneak River or Boca in my post 30s career, but I'd also love to play for Inter and NUFC, and then a retirement league. Note that I'd put Bilbao ahead of Valencia as my pre-Barça club but I can't play there.
  7. It sucks because I hate losing, but the new format is awesome for the competition.
  8. Valladolid easily my #2 team in La Liga nowadays. Ronaldo and HBA
  9. Trincao to Barça in the summer, €31m Interesting. He plays right wing only? That's Messi's spot, and I don't see him going back to a deep 9.
  10. Embarba from Rayo to Espanyol, €10m. That's €40m+ in players for Espanyol this window, they are really splashing the cash to try to avoid relegation.
  11. I believe this is the most I've posted in this board in a single day since 2017.
  12. That's in Ecuador. Barcelona de Guayaquil.
  13. He's a nobody*, people just assume this was extramarital due to the reaction when caught on camera.
  14. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2871971-report-raul-bravo-accused-of-hiring-hitman-in-attempt-on-darko-kovacevic Cue a "that escalated quickly" joke.
  15. It was old school with a few parts missing - getting de Jong in the 11 will make a huge difference - they will need to at some point fill at least one of the wide positions with a top quality player (will need to sell Dembele in the summer)and get a CF in Dembele has all the talent in the world, but I'm becoming convinced that it won't happen for him. A mix of lack of discipline and injury-proneness will lead to him not realizing his potential.
  16. Well, this was old school Barça. The bad version of it, mind, where we pass it pass it pass it and pass it without being able to penetrate, but it's closer to team I loved than what we've been getting recently, and I'm not going to expect Setién to turn things around completely in just one game.
  17. I like him, I just think he comes at the very worst moment, midway into the season, with a restless dressing room (and he doesn't have the resume to command instant respect), and if the season unravels he won't get a chance.
  18. Tbf this is our worst season record-wise since the last Rijkaard season. Real Madrid/Atlético are just sucking a teeny bit more. Should have been done in the summer though, now it will only cause more upheaval. I think Setién is probably a better manager than Xavi, but Xavi's presence would probably calm things down and he'd have the respect of the dressing room (which is imho Zidane's best quality at Real Madrid, that he's Zinedine fucking Zidane).
  19. To be honest I don't think we could've held on the top spot the way we were playing. Fortunately Real Madrid have been as unreliable as us, but with Suárez down I wasn't fancying our chances - he and Messi have been carrying the team all these months.
  20. All the way in with Setién. This season was headed nowhere, at least do it with a bang instead of a whimper. Who knows, it might even work out.
  21. We already sacked the guy that signed Coutinho, and eventually we'll sack his replacement. We go through directors of football like candy.
  22. Xavi turned us down, according to several media reports. Doesn't want to join mid-season. Dunno if our board will wait for him, leaving a severaly undermined Valverde in place for the rest of the season, or turn to somebody else.
  23. Generally I agree with you, but fuck me would I like to see Xavi manage you guys. I wouldn't mind Xavi plowing my wife (rather if he didn't though), so I certainly would easily get excited with him managing us. But my rational side tells me he's unproven and they'd be bringing him in to appease fans, since next season is an election season.
  24. Yeah, the club has held talks with Xavi. Terrible idea imho, but then again I thought the same when they appointed Guardiola and I was proven excedeengly wrong. I just don't care for appointing club legends without real managing experience.
  25. Hooftrainer. This is so beautiful.
