Just found this. With Timber Joey and stuff like this, I'm starting to really like Timbers fans. Their obsession with chainsaws is a bit troubling tho.
-
Just noticed that Negredo has now scored as many non-penalty goals as Falcao, who's on a bit of a dry spell.

Are the RSL kit colours patterned after the Spanish NT, too? Always wondered that. Will make all that Spanish population in Utah very happy. http://du8znpjowa92.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/real-salt-lake-08-09-home-shirt.jpg http://www.footballkitnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/New-Spain-Home-Kit-2011.jpg

They could've been AC Philadelphia, SC Philadelphia, and Philadelphia City too apparently. Though for sure it wouldn't have been "Soccer Club (S.C.) Philadelphia" or "Athletic Club (A.C.) Philadelphia" Associazione Calcio Philadelphia.

Yanks just seem to have ignored the fact there's a reason/meaning behind using FC, Sporting, United, etc... that goes back to the club's foundation and history. They should have created their own tradition, and if that's corny US sports names, then so be it.
-
They could have used AFC, there's plenty of them out there in Europe and that's where the word "soccer" comes from. Philadelphia Union has got to be one of the best names they have though, perfectly football-sounding while being very yank at the same time.
-
That name always makes me laugh, first that comes to my mind every time is if there's a Fake Salt Lake somewhere Should have been Royal Salt Lake if they wanted to emulate our "Real" clubs; which makes as little sense in a Republic as well... everything else they do in Utah when naming a sports club.

These two guys in the same room

Roura pretty much confirmed this will be his last game as caretaker manager. Tito's coming back next week.

14 bookings in that game, bloody hell. Is Juan Ignacio Martínez likely to get a move 'up' soon do you reckon? Depends on what is considered a move "up". Most of the usual outsiders (Atlético/Sevilla/Valencia/Málaga) just switched managers or have pretty safe ones. Just a higher profile club really, one where he'd not have to penny pinch to such a degree but that isn't such an exhaustive list in Spain these days. Levante indeed don't have a pot to piss on, but most clubs outside the usual suspects are in the same position nowadays. Think he'd be a great fit for Betis, but Mel is doing wonderfully well there.

Acquafresca with his first goal tonight. He'll freshen things up for Levante upfront, imho.
-
Yeah. They have appealed to the CAS, but chances are it will be tossed out. It will go to the team below.
-
Aye, Rayo are immensely watchable. And they never change their style whoever they face, which results in the odd pasting from the big sides. But they are pretty comfortable this season, with an outside chance of Europe.

Tamudo vs Barça is like Ameobi vs Sunderland. Always does it.
-
Alves' hair man, he wants slapping so hard.
-
Yeah, it's so Romario-esque too. Love it.
-
Alexis' passing game is mint. Wish he didn't fall to pieces inside the box.
-
That's what managers say every time tbf. "There was no intent". "He's not that kind of player".
-
A few seasons ago we finished sixth man. SIXTH!!!! But yeah, I'm thinking of having children just to be able to tell them I saw this lot live.

2-0. If Messi scores next week against Celta he'll have scored against every single La Liga team consecutively.
-
Love how Spanish media keep calling Sneijder a "veteran" despite only being 28. Suppose they just assume he's old because he plays in Turkey.
-
Pinto, Adriano, Piqué, Mascherano, Alba, Busquets, Cesc, Iniesta, Messi, Villa, Alexis Strong lineup against Rayo. Should be an entertaining game; Rayo are very positive. Too positive for their own good, I'd add.

Cartilage damage is the deal-breaker. Bones heal, cartilage doesn't. Torres became s*** after losing cartilage tissue in his knee. Pretty sure it was ankle cartilage problems what ultimately forced Dean Ashton's retirement too. Anyway, just speculation.
