  1. I hate derby day :( Certainly won't be able to sleep tonight. Can't both sides just agree to a draw?

    Stop being a pussy.

    We'll beat them.

    We won't, like.

There's two types of people in the world. Optimists and pessimists. Optimists are the only ones that ever get anywhere in life.

To paraphrase a Christ Tait article in the Mag, it's statistically proven that those with a naturally sunnier disposition die on average earlier than their morose counterparts. In conclusion, I'll happily continue being a cynical, grumpy atheist.

But you have to enjoy life. No point being here for longer if you're always being cynical.

Indeed, and who says I'm not happy or enjoying life? You can be cynical about things and still be reasonably contented. In fact, it's a maxim of life to be heartily recommended in my skewed opinion. After all, a pessimist if never disappointed. As for the game against deliverance fc tomorrow, think it'll be a tepid, low scoring draw.

  3. What is the plan? All as haphazard as it ever was IMO.

Aside from spend as little as humanly possible and keep the wage bill as small as practicable in order to sell at any given opportunity, there isn't one. I'm sure some will dress it up as a 'sensible and prudent financial model structured to keep pace with the financial fair play plans afoot', like the fat berk actually has that a business model.

It was Arsenal then Villa before becoming Wigan and I think we're currently Fulham.

  4. When we spend a load of money in the summer, I hope we're going to hear a few apologies from those who, by that time, will have bored the rest of us to distraction with months and months of pointless moaning.

That and an admission that Keegan is, and always has been, a really crap pundit.

Ready to apologise yourself yet? The crap pundit bit I'll give you, mind.

  5. If this leads to Simpson being replaced, then fine. We've proved that we can get decent players in, and it shouldn't be too difficult to find a better RB than Simpson.

At the moment, he has two years left on his contract and there's no rush.

    f*** me.

It's like NUFC bingo - mention anything bad about Ashley and he's on like a computer generated response, only duller.

  6. This Ashley thing is almost becoming the new Keegan thing - even after he won his court case it was 'well he tried to kill Newcastle by claiming £123 billion and ownership of Fiji!!!' insteading of the air wasters like Bobbyule, Afternoon Fix et al not having the balls, wit or common sense to simply admit they were wrong and made to look like arses.

  7. Let's say the club gets taken over next month. Would feel incredibly strange having him as manager.

The fact of the matter is, since the club was first made available for sale by Hall and Shepherd, Ashley is the only one who has been willing to put the money down required. Where are these saviours who will buy the club and pour money into the squad? So far the only serious interest was NUST with their collective whip round which flopped, and Barry Moat who was told to take his begging cap to the pawn shop by the banks.

That is the reality. And people should not rule out a scenario in which Ashley sells the club to someone worse, and by that I mean someone who somehow finds the asking price MA wants then f*cks up and can't afford to fund a recovery. It seems to be the case that people buying football clubs invariably get unpleasant surprises when they find out what it takes to keep them going let alone move them forward.

Also a change of owner often means change of manager and not always for the best. I'm struggling to believe that Avram Grant was a better manager than Zola, and that Steve Kean is a better manager than Allardyce (and I'm purely looking at Allardyce as a Premiership survivor not with any great admiration I might add).

So are we supposed to be grateful for the idiots we have. If clubs like fulham can be run sensibly and play in Europe with their resources and fan base, I will burn before I'm grateful for the shoddy way this club is being treat.

You missed the point. It's entirely up to you whether you want to feel grateful to him for everything, some of the things or nothing that he's done here. But if he did get out there's absolutely no guarantee that he'll sell it to someone who will be able to run it better.

Very true. But as there's absolutely no hope, ambition, trust or belief while he remains, I'll take my chances. I used to quite like a bit of hope and positivity, so it goes.

  8. Anyone remotely optimistic about this season has officially entered the arena of the absurd.

 I must be going nuts then  :crazy2:

I'm still optimistic, because I still believe we'll get a decent LB and ST in. If that has happened come September 1st, then I won't be quite as confident.

If we get those two players in though (providing they're of good quality), I think we'll have much better squad depth than last season.

I feel that any optimism lingering from last season has been extinguished this summer as it's become increasingly clear that the corpulent one has no ambition other than keeping the team in the premier league and the wage bill at a minimum primed for a sale. There seems to be too much hope placed on how well the new signings adapt (one of which is essentially a kid) to the premier league, Ba excepted, and we're already into a season without the centre forward and left back we need.

Even taking that into consideration what you've said about Ashley, we could still do good things on the pitch this season.

If all the signing click I agree, but only with the (essential) addition of a decent centre forward and left back. Personally, I'd be chuffed with a top ten finish. The overiding problem (as there was last season) however remains that it's difficult to truly enjoy it because of the underlying feeling that the fuckers upstairs are, intentionally or not, going to fuck things up again at some point a la Hughton and Carroll.

  10. Supporting NUFC these days is like the shittest groundhog day ever - waking up each day to find you're still George Wendts's undercrackers on the receiving end of an especially unforgiving korma.

  11. Be a cold f***ing day in hell before I think myself lucky that this shithead is manager of Newcastle.

Name an available and willing alternative, shithead or not, and there could be a discussion. He's alright for now imo.

Sad but true; there is no decent manager alive that would even consider working under Ashley and Llambias. Or dead, either.

  12. It's almost like there's a pattern emerging.

So that makes it just Kevin Keegan, Bobby Robson, Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Joey Barton, Kevin Nolan, an employment tribunal arbitration panel, every football journalist in christendom, Dave Whelan, Mungo Jerry, The Christians, Alan Shearer, Sam Allardyce, Alan Sugar, Terence Trent D'Arby, Samuel Beckett and now Jose Enrique that have been critical of the current NUFC regime. It's all a conspiracy to make Mike and friends look bad.

  13. More to the point, is anyone even suprised by anything this regime does or says anymore?

If David 'Ned' Kelly, Elsie Robson and Tony Green were to be hanged from the Gallowgate whilst Del and Mike masturbate in tandem before the Fulham home game I'd barely raise an eyebrow.

  14. Their greed to get the maximum for Enrique has meant they've now painted themselves into a corner. They've got no-one to blame but themselves.

Yeah but there's a global recession on, and we've got to live within our means, Enrique might have stayed despite Pardew saying he was defintely going, just look at Portsmouth and Leeds because that's what we'll be like if we spend any money, financial fair play....erm...Tenko's not on telly anymore, they've banned xmas, it's all Keegan's fault etc.

  15. Every single year it's the same, people dismiss the August games like they don't matter. We went down by a point recently ffs, you'd think they'd learn that every single point matters.

We're not going down this season. And I'm not dismissing the August games. I think we can get a win at Sunderland with or without a left-back. I'm p*ssed off it's taking us so long to sign a left-back but some of the reactions are bordering ridiculous.

Hull City, September 2008. No way we were going down that season, absurd.

  16. 'clubs know we need a LB and make it hard'

    Shock! Horror!

Well Alan, you know, have you considered that it may have been more sensible to, you know, make sure you have a replacement in place for the left back position before, you know, releasing the only recognised player in that position at the club. No? You're just a poor little sex pest bullied by your employers you say? I feel, Alan, I feel.

  17. I can't get annoyed at the news of this signing, as I doubt it takes away anything from the pursuit (stop laughing) of a left back or striker and may actually turn out to be decent signing(remember when Alan 'wide of the mark Oliver' stated Valencia would be laughing all the way to the bank regarding Enrique?). Besides, there are far more salient reasons to snipe at this regime that the acquisition of a potentially 3rd choice goalie.

  18. People have lost their nerve.

    The end is upon us!

I won't lie, a small part of me wants you to lose to see the reactions on here.

I reckon at least 1 person will claim "this is the end of my time supporting this club!!!"

Never mind that, what do you make of the blue union nonsense?

See 'not worthy of a thread' mate. A quite astonishing meeting.

    Utterly bizarre.

    'Why won't you sell?'

    'There are no buyers'

    'Why won't you spend money?'

    'We've have none'

'That's not good enough!' *bangs fist*

At least it seems the majority of Everton fans rightly view this lot as the bunch of lopsided social misfits that they are, though.
