  1. I don't think Colback is a better passer than Abeid. I think one of Abeid's strengths is that he fires off his passes quickly - we move the ball much faster with him playing.
  2. His corners have been alright I think…? One was overhit but still in a dangerous area.
  3. How is the summer spend relevant? I couldn't give a shit when the money is spent..
  4. 'All' it would take is the team we had when we finished 5th under the leadership of a good, innovative manager and we could have been a regular top 6/7 team and challenged for cups. We've had the raw materials in the recent past, we just haven't had the manager to use them properly or the desire to reject bids for our better players.

    Jose Mourinho

I was talking more about his antics with the press and 'mind games' with other managers to be honest.

Mourinho is a brilliant manager. I don't really care about his antics - all top managers indulge in similar behaviour at times. The exception maybe being Guardiola?
  7. Farrington appears to be getting upset at the abuse we give him..

Yeah - for some reason I thought Kane was 23. Not sure why.

It will be, if you're a tad thick. All people are saying is that his age can't be used as some sort of excuse for him. Lack of experience, of course, but Sammy has turned down several opportunities to go out on loan in favour of sitting on the bench or in a warm seat in the stands. Of course a player's age AND experience can be used as an excuse. Players develop at different rates - you only have to look at someone like Harry Kane for extremely recent evidence of that. He's older than Sammy and, prior to this season, had shown no signs of developing into a very good PL striker. Sammy may never get any better than he currently is, but I think it's worth giving him a couple of years more to see how he develops. If he doesn't get any better, then move him on. Well that's s***, for a start. Also factor in that Kane's role is one young players seldom seem to thrive in. Sammy's a winger. If he was ever going to be a very good one he'd have shown far more than he has in the opportunities he's been given. I'll never quite understand why you feel it's appropriate to be so needlessly aggressive. Moving on - is there a particular point in Kane's career where he was showing promise? His record on loan was distinctly average - 14 goals in 53 games spread across the Championship and League 1 - and, from various Spurs supporting friends I have, he has never been regarded at Spurs as being a great talent (which has also been reflected in various articles on him recently). Even up until the Chelsea game, they were pretty convinced it was a lucky streak.

People genuinely comparing Ameobi to Hazard and Sterling and expressing surprise that he isn't at that level? Staggering.

He's started 16 Premier League games in his entire career. This season, he's started 10 games and scored 2 goals and got 2 assists. He easily has enough potential to be given another deal.

Can't agree with that at all.
  14. Janmaat for me. as an all round full back sure easily the best but imho Dummett is just a more solid defender To what extent does 'solid' translate as 'limited'? Haidara and Janmaat offer far more going forward and subsequently push higher up and take more risks.
  15. I haven't written off because of his first start - I just gave an example that sprang to mind. I've watched enough of him to not rate him particularly highly.
  16. I don't think he wins enough headers for a centre half in the PL - not sure I need to list a series of examples to hold this view (I suppose the glaring one was where a bang average Fletcher dominated him in the air all game). And unlike peak Coloccini or the player MYM we know is, I don't think he has enough other outstanding attributes to make up for the fact he doesn't excel in any particular department (i.e. Colo's reading of the game and anticipation, MYM's speed etc). We can agree to disagree about how comfortable he is on the ball. I don't have much confidence in him when he has the ball at his feet. At both LB and CB he often resorted to Williamson-esque hoofs.
  17. I look at Dummett and don't see many, if any, of the attributes I want from a centre half (or certainly someone who could be labelled as being one hell of a centre half). He isn't (as you have acknowledged) tall enough, he isn't strong enough and he isn't that good in the air. He isn't very quick and I haven't seen anything from him to suggest that he is going to grow into a great reader of the game or a leader at the back. Least importantly for me, he isn't comfortable on the ball. I don't see many outstanding attributes for someone who is already 23. Having said all that - I'd have him in the team over Williamson every day of the week.
  18. I think it's probably ok for people to have differing opinions to yours without you calling them a mong.
  19. Absolutely no way Dummett could ever become 'one hell of a centre back' - almost regardless of he is paired with or coached by.

    Rolando Aarons

Actually realised got the story wrong - this guy is friends with Ashley's dad. One less step removed. But yes - now that you've said, I seem to remember something about them falling out. However, Ashley's dad still gets to use Ashley's helicopter, so things can't be too bad...

    Rolando Aarons

According to a guy who sits behind my dad at SJP, Aarons is not going to sign a new contract. I'm sure I've said it before but this guy's dad is apparently mates with Ashley's dad. I think he has got the odd thing right before, but quite a few things wrong... Apparently we also haven't got a clue who we are going to appoint as our next manager.
  22. That time when he got the ball on the edge of the Palace box with his back to goal and, instead of laying it off to Gouffran (I think) who was in space and facing the goal, he tried to swivel and hit the ball in one go with his left foot was just comical. I have absolutely no idea what he thought was going to happen.
