He's started 16 Premier League games in his entire career. This season, he's started 10 games and scored 2 goals and got 2 assists. He easily has enough potential to be given another deal.
-
Can't agree with that at all.
-
Janmaat for me. as an all round full back sure easily the best but imho Dummett is just a more solid defender To what extent does 'solid' translate as 'limited'? Haidara and Janmaat offer far more going forward and subsequently push higher up and take more risks.

I haven't written off because of his first start - I just gave an example that sprang to mind. I've watched enough of him to not rate him particularly highly.
-
I don't think he wins enough headers for a centre half in the PL - not sure I need to list a series of examples to hold this view (I suppose the glaring one was where a bang average Fletcher dominated him in the air all game). And unlike peak Coloccini or the player MYM we know is, I don't think he has enough other outstanding attributes to make up for the fact he doesn't excel in any particular department (i.e. Colo's reading of the game and anticipation, MYM's speed etc). We can agree to disagree about how comfortable he is on the ball. I don't have much confidence in him when he has the ball at his feet. At both LB and CB he often resorted to Williamson-esque hoofs.

I look at Dummett and don't see many, if any, of the attributes I want from a centre half (or certainly someone who could be labelled as being one hell of a centre half). He isn't (as you have acknowledged) tall enough, he isn't strong enough and he isn't that good in the air. He isn't very quick and I haven't seen anything from him to suggest that he is going to grow into a great reader of the game or a leader at the back. Least importantly for me, he isn't comfortable on the ball. I don't see many outstanding attributes for someone who is already 23. Having said all that - I'd have him in the team over Williamson every day of the week.

I think it's probably ok for people to have differing opinions to yours without you calling them a mong.
-
Absolutely no way Dummett could ever become 'one hell of a centre back' - almost regardless of he is paired with or coached by.

Actually realised got the story wrong - this guy is friends with Ashley's dad. One less step removed. But yes - now that you've said, I seem to remember something about them falling out. However, Ashley's dad still gets to use Ashley's helicopter, so things can't be too bad...
-
According to a guy who sits behind my dad at SJP, Aarons is not going to sign a new contract. I'm sure I've said it before but this guy's dad is apparently mates with Ashley's dad. I think he has got the odd thing right before, but quite a few things wrong... Apparently we also haven't got a clue who we are going to appoint as our next manager.

That time when he got the ball on the edge of the Palace box with his back to goal and, instead of laying it off to Gouffran (I think) who was in space and facing the goal, he tried to swivel and hit the ball in one go with his left foot was just comical. I have absolutely no idea what he thought was going to happen.

I think it was probably the worst game of football I've ever attended. Almost unbelievably bad.
-
He should have tried growing up in Kent in the late 80s when we were terrible. There weren't too many Newcastle fans around then. Although I suppose the Keegan years helped somewhat.
-
Not even sure what I would do if/when I have kids. I'm already one step removed as my parents (and grandparents etc) are from Newcastle but I'm not. I have had direct ties to Newcastle all my life - no idea how I would convince/bully my kids into supporting us. I don't think I could cope if they started supporting a London club.
-
Yep - would agree with that. Thought he was fine yesterday, but he was tiring and should have come off instead of Cabella.
-
True - but I just thought he could have anticipated it a bit better. As I said, the cross was floating over and it was fairly clear that Crouch would win the header. And Crouch could only really score in one way. Possibly being harsh on Krul, but it looked like it could have been saved.
-
This Me too - I was quite looking forward to this game. Not so much now.
-
I'm sure it's been covered in the main match thread, but that backpass to Krul before their goal was appalling. I genuinely think I have better technique than he has.
-
I have to say that those kind of goals always look like the keeper should save them - Krul wasn't far off his line, the cross was floated, the header was slow and loopy etc, but they seem to go in quite regularly so there must be something that's difficult about them to save that I haven't quite figured out.

That's actually his 'evidence' for HBA being released. A joke.

My enthusiasm has definitely waned and I hate a lot (if not everything) that our club now stands for, but for me, NUFC and football has been such a huge part of my life that I don't know I could ever not care at all. Being obsessed with football is such a huge part of me and my family - it's just what I do with my dad and my brother. We go to games (admittedly more London away games now), we watch games on tv and it's what we talk about every day. I absolutely detest Ashley for the fact that it is highly unlikely that I will ever see us win something and share that experience wuth my dad - but I just don't know that I could give it up completely.

The fact Dummett is a better defender, and has more goals that Santon despite playing far fewer games, suggests this might be a bit of an exaggeration. That just isn't true. What isn't true, that he has more goals or is a better defender? That he's a better defender.

That should go on a banner...

Easily worth a new contract. Shouldn't even be in question for me given what I assume are relatively low wages.
