A half decent manager could easily have outperformed Pardew in spite of Ashley and his restrictions.
-
On 3 million euros as well - not even 'that' much. About £2 million a year.
-
All my dreams. Gone in an instant. Kept hoping we would appoint him.
-
Told me in December that he didn't think Tuchel would come to us - which was disappointing: Me Hi - do you think there is any chance Tuchel would consider nufc or are his sights set higher? Would seem a perfect fit to me! Dec 29 Raphael Honigstein I personally think he's CL material. would be a step down to go to NUFC I wonder if we have tried speaking to Tuchel though.
-
Surely it depends on the manager we appoint? If we showed some ambition and got someone highly rated in - Tuchel, Garde, Jemez etc - there is absolutely no doubt in my mind the manager would extract more from each player we have and we'd do a fair bit better than Pardew (in terms of style of play/entertainment and points).
-
Admittedly I've only played it once, but he doesn't say the 'team' is shit at all. Isn't what he asked what he thinks of the defeat and he says 'shit'?
-
Would genuinely lose it if we had passed up the opportunity to get Tuchel in.

Just saw Marcotti retweet this - https://twitter.com/PardsinPornos. So weird...

Great goal.

Does seem like Roma fans aren't massive fans of MYM from looking at their forums..
-
Ryder's idea that because people aren't chanting against Carver at the moment, this is somehow indicative of the fans endorsing Carver as manager is unbelievably dense.
-
Chronicle keep denying that they are pushing Carver for the job and that may well be true now - but what they should be doing is writing articles highlighting exactly why he should never have a chance of getting the job, how generally incompetent he is and how there are much better candidates out there.
-
Have to agree as well..

Interesting article - http://www.thesecretfootballer.com/articles/the-secret-footballer/24353/sad-tale-of-adam-johnson-and-sunderland-afc/

In 60 years, when I tell my grandchildren about this day, they won't believe me.

Have you ever played football? In fairness - I've never really understood the need. As I'm sure most people have here, I've played a lot of football over the years and never quite understood the need to spit during a match.
-
Especially for Cisse, who was reacting to someone spitting on him for no apparent reason I'm not defending his actions, it's horrible, but a 6 game ban for it is pathetic. There's no justification for it what-so-ever. Agreed - obviously it's a disgusting thing to do, but spitting always seems to get elevated to the level of the worst thing you can ever do on a football field.
-
Genuinely don't get why there is a 6 match automatic ban for spitting but not some potentially career ending tackles. Priorities completely wrong.
-
I always hated Sherwood as a player. Not sure why, but it's spilled into me not liking as a manager. Seemed to do a good job at Spurs despite most Spurs fans I know thinking he wasn't very good.
-
Nothing worse than actually going back to wanting us to lose. Just feels wrong, but I could not stand the idea of Carver as our permanent manager.

I don't understand why this is important when everyone else in the league (i.e. our rivals) will see the same increases in TV revenue. Yes we might start spending a bit more money but other teams in the league will do the same and then some. I understand what you're saying about TV money becoming a bigger proportion of all revenue but the same goes for all clubs and we've seen before it usually leads to another increase in wages across the board and not much else. Agree with this - surely other revenue streams are what will differentiate us from other teams, even if they make up a smaller proportion of our overall turnover? Will be interesting to see if the new tv deal makes wages go up even further. I suppose the one thing it does do is massively increase the Premier League's spending power relative to the rest of Europe though.

Disappointed I didn't get a name check there tbh. Part of me still thinks Kane will be a flash in the pan, mainly due to his slowness, although he has probably been the second best all round striker in the league this season. I'll be fascinated to see how Kane develops. I'm not 100% convinced yet - next couple of years will be interesting.

I just don't see that the evidence for that. I, for example, don't rate Dummett very highly. I personally think Haidara is a far superior LB to Dummett - not because he's French, but just because he's better. But, rightly or wrongly, I'm one of Sammy's staunchest supporters because I can see some potential there and I want him to get a new contract. As far as I can see, it's the same with other people - they rate some players, they don't rate others - absolutely nothing to do with where they are from.
-
Yep - usually tends to come from an individual who rates an English player and doesn't like to see others speak ill of that player. Then the 'anti-English' line is trotted out without any substance.

Ashley will probably release our accounts now.
