As if - on a terrible betting run..

He's a brilliant manager. Not sure how anyone can argue otherwise to be honest.
-
A friend of a friend is involved with Arsenal and apparently the fitness work they do there is now is abysmal - really dated stuff.
-
Seriously - he's probably the most respected journalist in England in relation to football tactics and tactical analysis. It's not we're talking about some tabloid hack here. Not even sure what the bit about me being convinced by it even means.

You don't think Jonathan Wilson watches much football? Oh dear..

Great article on England here - http://www.newstatesman.com/lifestyle/2014/06/boring-roy-dared-become-world-cup-cavalier-and-he-suffered-consequences

Could have just been Howard's Tourettes kicking in to be honest.

Hughes played quite a lot at left back as well. My point was that, over the course of his career, he has been predominantly a centre half and a very good one at that. That's all.
-
Well - bearing in mind he has been playing as a centre half for the last 7 years or so, I am not sure why we would compare him to right backs anyway?
-
Yep - massively underrated player. Would have done a very good job at centre half over the last however many years.

got about nearly 7/1 off 365 for the same bet, not too bad at all really.... bonus 5a on it. Had the same bet. Couldn't believe France didn't score one of those.
-
Would help if they stopped shooting straight at him.

Genuinely hate the booing at all the matches when someone does something crap.

Do you feel the need to tell us this every time someone mentions Ameobi? We know your views. I do, yeah. Sorry bruv. Strange behaviour though, bruv.

Was that Sammy I saw then?

For Chile - because I basically assumed that Brazil will knock them out in the next round so might as well make a tiny amount than nothing. Colombia because I was lazy and couldn't work out how to only cash out Chile and not Colombia. Didn't seem to be an option for that unless I missed it. And... because I bet with tiny amounts of money!

You can mess around with it on Betfair to see what you would get. Click the blue box on Columbia in the World cup winners market. (Blue is the back, pink is the lay) Enter £2 and adjust the odds from the current ones to what you backed at (60/1 but will have to be 61.0 as Betfair only uses decimal) Then click the pink box on Columbia in the same market, keep the odds as they are and just enter random amounts of money and you will see the profit or loss change in the whole market.Remember Betfair takes a 5% commission which you can also have included to your figures in options. This should get you familiar to how everything works. Just make sure you don't hit return on your keyboard or your bets will be submitted. (Won't matter if you have an un-funded account though as it'll just get cancelled) Seems quite a brainfuck at first but worth learning as it can be quite profitable once you know where to look for odds movement. Cheers - ended up cashing in the two bets using the automatic cashout option and basically made nothing. Think I may have made the wrong decision re cashing in Colombia.. Damn! Still struggling with betfair - need to start to use it a bit more often to work it out I reckon.

Apologies for another post on backing/laying and my stupidity on this, but it's the first time I have actually used betfair so I haven't quite got my head around it. I put £2 on Colombia to win the WC at 60-1 and £2 on Chile to win at 50-1 in the expectation that they were massively overpriced and their odds would come down. I think their odds are now at 25-1 or something around there. Put simply, how do I make any money out of these bets? I appreciate that isn't going to be very much..

Unfortunately for Alves, Shearer is 100% correct.
-
Amazing how good he looks not playing as a winger...

It's in a book called soccernomics - why england lose. Apparently our record has actually improved since the beginning of the premier league.

I'm sure there was a study done about England's progress at international tournaments and, given various factors including wealth and population size etc, we tend to achieve what we should do. I will have to see if I can find it as obviously one could look at holland and Spain as achieving more.

Rooney just looks off the pace. His first touch just isn't sharp enough.
