  1. Anelka didn't even try to get around him.
  2. Definitely. He's been improving almost game-by-game for the last two seasons, easily my favorite player to watch in the league.
  3. City playing slightly entertaining for a few seconds there.
  4. Football clip? I hope not.
  5. Pretty sure South American can bid for 2026. You have to wait two WC's before your continent can big again, that will be three from then. Europe or Asia can't. Leaving it up to either America, Argentina, or an African country.
  6. And some of it remains unfinished and Dubai is now bankrupt. Could easily happen to Qatar/Doha.
  7. Like you said Dave, top five is pretty much sealed, but outside of that no one has been that good. Bolton are the only team I would confidently say will finish top ten. I'll go with 12-14, could see it anywhere though, it's ridiculous how anything could happen.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-z2jtUS9-Y "ARRIVE BY WATER TAXI!"
  9. I saw a video about their stadiums, the one in the picture with football players on the sign is supposed to be highlights or television. Every clip they used in the video was blatantly ripped off of ESPN's 2006 highlight package.
  10. "What did you do yesterday?" "Oh, just destroyed a metal sink with trash bin."
  11. Pepe's good, but man can he have some howlers.
  12. I'm not worried about the US getting it or not, as I'm sure they'll get '26, but I don't think this was the right time to go with Qatar. You had the US or Australia, even if they had conflicting stadiums, Australia have the money to make more. At this point, Qatar have the money to support this, despite being particularly small. But who fucking knows in 2022? Look at the UAE, they were rich for a few years before going all out on tourism and going completely bankrupt. This is probably what will happen to Qatar. A small nation like that can only last so long spending so much money, the oil business can drastically change in the next twelve years as well with the reemergence of electrical cars. This was just not a safe pick at all, especially after picking two third world countries and one run by the mafia. And I haven't even mentioned fans from around the world who don't want to be going to Brazil, Russia, or Qatar. Just so many factors make this a poor choice.

  14. My Welsh friend; "Still, at least it means Wales are in with a chance of hosting one in the future, we're twice the size and have twice the population of Qatar! Our bid could be "We're bigger than the last lot, we sell beer and your eyeballs won't melt when you go outside. Bring an umbrella". I'm just off to start the Wales 2026 campaign. "
  15. That's how every newscaster says it over here. A week ago a friend and I spent an hour on the internet trying to find out how it was pronounced, we still don't really know. Have an idea, but we can't actually say it because it's pretty much untranslatable. Qa as in 'cap' without the p then tar as in 'target' That's how I've always said it but apparently it's wrong.
  16. apparently it is something like Kut-ar. Almost like saying Cutter, but a quicker and lighter t, plus a soft ar at the end.

  18. Women's rights in Qatar are much more relaxed than other Muslim/Islam states.
  19. Lack of preparation, shitty team, lego stadiums, unfamiliar for players, much like SA was, etc. On top of that, not sure where everyone's getting this Qatar have money idea. They, along with UAE just throw money they don't have at shit to make it look like they have money. Isn't the world cup all about sharing the beautiful game? it brings a lot more money and tourism to wherever it's held. It also helps educate people such as yourself about the hosting country. Unfamiliar for players? are you mental? this means absolutely nothing. Also you say they have a shitty team? another utterly stupid point. They have a long time to prepare and only time will tell if they back their words up. Same as any world cup host. You're just being very closed-minded and therefore having world cups in unfamiliar places is exactly what's needed. Unfamiliar for the players does matter as we saw in SA. It took forever to world class players to adjust. And yes, it does matter how shitty a host nations team is, it's ridiculous that such an awful team could be placed in the biggest tournament in the world. Having said that, the World Cup is all about sharing it with the world, but picking Qatar makes four developing countries in a row. The first one, SA, was not nearly as fun as past WC's. At some point fans have to be considered, and constantly going back to inexperienced countries in unfamiliar climates is not going to improve the WC as a whole.
