Not to say Rafa couldn't have brought it but because he has always said that Newcastle is a project, perhaps it would have taken a year ot two to win a cup or achieve something major. They might want success quickly to show they are relevant and able to compete. So maybe Mourinho or someone else with history could be their choice.
