Does that line at the end saying 'not to consider that as a distraction for the time being' translate as the takeover is real but its taking time? Why mention 'for the time being' if its not happening then?

You can just see that the club will take ages to appoint a replacement and in the end would just give it to Neil Redfearn. Whoever takes the job is absolute bonkers and is probably taking the job with the hope that they would be paid off handsomely if any takeover was to happen.

After an awful day, I'm just going to end my day with this tiny bit of hope regardless of what happening is obviously what Ashley and his buddies have planned all along. I'm clutching a big pile of straws here but BZG might have been clever enough not to say or relate themselves with the Rafa situation. Some have said they might have their own man, perhaps Jose since he and Wenger were linked with us. Perhaps BZG didn't want Rafa, not because he ain't good enough but in their eyes, it might take time for him to get instant success (though I very much believe he would have won at least a cup quickly with us if he was given proper funds). BZG probably want quick success to at least portray themselves as worthy and as competitive as their counterparts over at City and their belief is getting someone like Mourinho or Wenger might grt quicker success both on and off the pitch rather than waiting for Rafa to build his empire and all with the training ground and facilities etc. Again, I'm just trying to pacify myself here. They didn't want to commit with Rafa because he is a crowd favourite and should anything go wrong with his contract negotiations or their ideas does not match what Rafa wants, then they would have had a hard a tough task of sacking him off. They might still want Rafa, but if he decides he's off to China, then it makes it a lot easier for them to appoint whoever they want. They might have no issues replacing anyone who the club appoints after Rafa because it would still look bad on Ashley and his team who had knowledge that the club was being sold but still appointed someone gullible enough to replace Rafa. I feel this BZG attempt to buy us is genuine and real and they have acted smartly by not putting all their eggs in one basket in relation to Rafa. Now we await whether Ashley sells up or moves the goalposts again. He could have made Newcastle fans even mors p*ssed by just announcing there is no takeover and the club will back Rafa's replacement as much as possible but he hasn't. Until this day, he has not commented at all about BZG unlike previously where he was vocal about Staevely. Yes it might be his cunning plan all along but there is also evidence that this might be true. Some say another 6 weeks before anything gets going. I would wait these 6 weeks if it mean the fat c*** leaves. But that would leave an already shambolic pre season preparation even more disastrous. More to do with Ashley and his regime than any potential new owners. Either way, we are already f***ed. Any good coming out of this fiasco will be a bonus for us. I'm done with the club when an official announcement confirms no takeover happening. Either from the club or from BZG. Before that, I'm going to cling on to the last hope I have. Cue those saying, give over man there is no takeover etc. I understand but let that last hope die with my love for the club as it did today with Rafa leaving us.

Don't know how much evil Fat Mike can get but one of these days, karma is going to bite him back so hard, he won't be left with anything to savour. For me, if we don't hear anything from anyone on the part of BZG sometime in the coming weeks, then think this was all a setup. Surely someone can atleast come out and blame Ashley for screwing up the deal?

I still dont understand. If everything was fake why did BZG say they are buying us in the first place? I believe they do want to buy us. What I don't trust is Fat Mike. Somehow, he is going to try and scupper the deal.

If Rafa is gone, and Ashley stays, would like to see what BZG say about it all. They are unlike Stavely, and Kenyon, they have been vocally confident of the deal being complete and all. They would probably be accusing Ashley of moving the goalposts and what not but let us see what they would say.

Is Douglas changing his tune then? From not imminent to imminent perhaps? Does he now know its happening? He has been vocal about doubting this deal all along.

We have Mike Ashley as owner and Lee Charnley managing the operations. Nothing is unthinkable. We do the unthinkable.

I’m not sure it’s done like. He might leave it last minute and sign it, knowing if a takeover doesn’t happen then he’s not tied down long-term, and if it happens, he’ll likely get a new contract anyway if we’re doing well. I think the takeover is the reason they have only given him the offer of a one year contract in the first place. Obviously. 1 year extension suits everyone can easliy be extended as soon as the new owners arrive. Gives Rafa the option of leaving at the end of next season if the new owners don’t arrive. Hopefully he extends a year then decides on longterm next year based on if the new owners come in I'm with you on this one and this has been my opinion of the Rafa situation so far.

I just feel Rafa will stay. I would assume if he had already decided he was going to go, he would have announced it and say he won't renew his contract. There must be a reason for him staying quiet less than 2 weeks away from when his contract is up. Think he cares and is professional enough for the fans and their feelings that he would have said goodbye if he knew he was going.

Everytime it takes time for me to load or refresh this thread after leaving it for a while, I'm like a little boy on Christmas morning hoping for something nice, hoping that there has been a major update on the takeover. Then, when the page does load, the first thing I see is no change to the thread tite and I'm disapointed as when I open that Christmas gift, my dad bought me a Slazenger sleeping bag complete in Sports Direct wrapping paper.
