    Hatem Ben Arfa

Why? He's correct. He praises the fans massively. Its Ashley and his mismanagement of the club who the article is directed at.

With "someone"? Scottish chap. Could have been an agent but might have also been Willie Donachie. Difficult to tell. Didn't want to stare.

Pardew in Jesmond Dene House today in the corner having a closely guarded conversation with someone over coffee. Was in for an hour or so. Couldn't hear much but did hear Ben Arfa's name mentioned.

    Alan Pardew

There are managers that have a tactical nous for starters and wouldn't f*** about with things all the time. A good manager would be able to get us playing decent regardless of new signings. I would take just about anyone right now to get rid of him as it can't be worse. The restrictions around the players we sign are a problem but look at our squad as a whole and we should be able to deliver some sort of consistent performance every game. yes we will win, lose, draw some but hopefully would not be at different ends of the spectrum every time we play I agree with your second paragraph but come back to the original question - who would replace him that's better? Sure, there are good managers out there but none of them fit within Ashley's restrictive criteria. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that because of this, anyone we get in after Pardew would likely be worse.

There's quite many i can imagine. But you never know with Ashley though. I just want Pardew gone to start with. Sure, but is not a case of out of the fire into the frying pan? If Pardew goes, Kinnear will take over. Even if only temporarily, we still wouldn't then hire a top manager. It would need to be someone out of contract (i.e. no compensation to pay), prepared to work for low wages and prepared to work within the current structure (i.e. Ashley, Kinnear etc.).

Given the restrictions the club operates within, if Pardew went, who could we honestly get in that's any better?
  9. What sort of formation are we playing? Looks like 4-4-2 from the line up?

Walked past Cabaye and Dubuchy today on Grey Street. Both in shorts with shopping bags lol.
  11. Some additional reasons for optimism: 1. There will be no "Ba Issue" next season - the "will he sign a contract or will he go" was undoubtedly a distraction for several months until he was sold. This wont be the case next season. 2. The Coloccini issue will be resolved - he'll either be gone (in which case we can move on) or he will have committed his future. Hopefully that will create a more settled back four. 3. Our French Players will be more settled - they'll have the benefit of a pre-season (something they didn't have in January), a better grip of the language and the demands of the Premiership. 4. We'll have less games to play not being in Europe - hopefully this will create fewer injuries and less fatigue. The squad will be rotated less meaning we should have a more consistent starting 11 who get to know each other. Plus, Pardew can't use it as an excuse. 5. Cisse will be better next season - he was played wide during the early parts of the season, scored less goals as a result and therefore suffered a dip in confidence.
  12. If this was last 20 years there would be some corkers: Serrant, Maric, Des Hamilton, Barnes, Dumas etc.
  13. Journal claims the deal will be wrapped up next week and he's agreed terms
