Isak is obviously a worse CF than Wilson for the simple reason he's not and has never been a CF. If he's going to replace Wilson we will have to play a different way and apparently Howe doesn't want to.

I don't think Eddie being a nice guy is an issue, what's just the beginning of a potential problem is a possible lack of ruthlessness to make the hard decisions when the team is struggling and has been since the world cup break. We will no better in a couple of weeks if his continued loyalty to underperforming players is going to be an issue.

I think this is correct which makes it even more strange that we signed him.

We are linked with Tierney who would be an upgrade but not a huge one and that's before getting into his fitness record.

Shaw (Malacia), Chilwell (Cucarella), Robertson (Tsimikas), Zinchenko (Tierney), Ake, Davies (Sessegnon). I think we are lagging behind a bit in the LB position. Targett is a reasonable LB defensively but offers little going forward. We need an elite level LB for where we are hoping to go.

You think Burn "is having a blinding season". He's a reasonable left sided CH but is an extremely limited LB who offers nothing going forward. Targett is not a particularly good LB either but somebody gave the ok to buy him and presumably not to be back up to Dan Burn.

The logic for him staying in the team is he's the only CF we have.

Do you expect us to be challenging for a top four place with the players we have? Bruno is the only player we have who would start for a top 6 team. IMO of course.

Nobody is ripping up the defense just replacing Burn with Targett, which more people on here are advocating. Now if Eddie doesn't think Targett is a better LB than Dan Burn you have to wonder who sanctioned buying him.

I think it's time we saw ruthless nasty Eddie, with the cup out of the way there is no need for any more loyalty to under performing players. Karius should be the number 2 goalkeeper. Targett should start instead of Burn. If Botman slips up Burn can step in at CH. Trippier needs a boot up the backside it's a pity we don't have a decent RB to give him some competition. Wilson needs a rest, maybe permanently. Almiron needs replacing, in the short term I'd rather have Murphy in for a while. Isak, ASM and Gordon need to start even if that means we don't have a CF. In midfield not much choice, we only have one good one, the rest are all fairly mediocre. For next season we currently have Pope, Botman, Bruno and Isak who are good enough for a top four challenge, so we are going to need an outstanding transfer window this summer.

It's good that the owners have just witnessed how far we still have to go. We are a very limited mid table team having a good season with no squad depth.
