  1. Or maybe because they are dicks, tbh. We just get them errect.
  2. People are speculating and reading into a few throw away quotes because it fits into their opinion that Carroll will not fit into the squad imo, they may be right on the latter part we'll have to see. As for Ashley's ego, he isn't going to spend £10m+ just for a laugh. Think about what yous are suggesting man, Mike Ashley, one of the countries top buisnessmen and a lover of money, is sanctioning a £13m bid for a player we don't want or need just to 'get one over' on Liverpool and satisfy his own ego? Not quite true that mate, I've said a few times that I'm open-minded about it. I don't really want Carroll back just because I know we can do better. Nowt to do with the player himself, he's a fine, above average player with a distinct set of attibutes etc. But he's never ever ever going to take us to the next level. He's just not as good as Ben Arfa, Colo, Tiote, Cisse or Cabaye. Although I do believe that's true, I would imagine that Carroll would be far more willing to sit on the bench than any other striker of his 'calibre'. As a 3rd choice striker he would be superb imo, and it gives us other options.

Well obviously he also thinks its a good deal to buy someone for 15m that he sold for 35m. He's a business man after all.... The fact he is a buisnessman is the very fact he won't think that. Disagree. A business man would think that, someone with a good idea how to run a football club wouldnt. Exactly what would a businessman's motivations be for thinking like that? Unless he thinks he can make money on him or he will improve the squad he won't splash out on him.

Fair enough, we'll probably get some new quotes in the coming days from Pardew that will clear things up but it just seems like wild speculation to me at the minute.

  7. Honestly man. Unless there's monetary gain from the deal we'll not try and sign a player just to "get one over" on another team, that would just be a waste of Mike Ashley's money. Is it really that hard to believe that Pardew, Carver and the team have had Carroll on their radar and have sensed a good opportunity to strike?
  8. What other deals have we done since Pardew has been here where he's said this or similar? Genuine question if there are any. Just because he isn't recycling soundbytes doesn't mean there's anything strange going on, although i'm sure he's said similar things in the past that alude to him not really knowing much and just letting the board sort it out.
  9. Pardew has stated that he wants him but he will have no input in the actual negotiation stages is what he means I would imagine. Like Dinho has said, it will happen with pretty much every manager.
  10. Notices Thomas in that thread, what happened with him?
  11. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,73942.50.html Weeks before the £35m bid was made. I think a lot of it was down to the fact most people were pretty suspicious of Ahsley's plans still at that time and just didn't want players out the door, but there was definitely a lot rating him in the £30+ bracket.
  12. Ba, Best, perch etc were all playing football at atleast a reasonably high level before joining us. Elliott wasn't and so far from what i've seen and heard he isn't looking too great. You would be silly to write him off, but I would be far happier with a proven number two on the bench, as it is we're effectively just praying Krul never receives a lengthy injury or ban.
  13. Thinking about it I actually wouldn't be suprised if we weren't just trying to stir a bit of competition to drive our bonus up
  14. The forrest game was enough for me, he was fucking awful
  15. That would be wrong of them tbh, if you look past the fact that we absolutely shanked them in the first place anyway. If they are selling him back to us then they shouldn't be looking for more than they would West Ham and co, and us having to fork out enough to cover the 25% would mean just that.
  16. Yes but it was a BIT FRUSTRATING. I was just kidding, like, but to be honest it was the least frustrating season in the Premiership I can fully remember. I'M IN A LIBRARY
  17. Hatem Ben Arfa was dropped for Obertan last season like and that one wasn't TOO BAD.
  18. He's definitely better central. Another player more suited to a 4-3-3. I would sort of agree that he's given off a bit of a playmaker vibe so far, but he's only played like half a dozen games sporadically for us, it's hardly enough to start pigeonholing him into positions.
  19. Has the "he's buying him as a centre back lol" joke been played yet?
  20. These candid shots of Pards are fucking splendid like.
  21. Pardew loves 4-4-2 man, I would be astonished if we play more than half of our games next season in any other formation.
  22. What are we discussing now? What about what performances? I would think that the people at the club are judging the performances he made for us, what they saw in training every single day, when they are justifying spending any money. That'll do me. Would I be happy to have see the AC we sold to Liverpool back at NUFC in our squad? Absolutely. spot on, if the club put in a £10+m bid then there are reasons for it.
