Old, presumably expensive (wages) trophy signing. No thanks.

Indeed, The Journal understands that United have drawn up short striker hitlist featuring Maiga, FC Twente striker Luuk de Jong, summer target Papa Cisse and Lille’s free-scoring Senegal forward Moussa Sow as the most prominent targets. The quartet are all being discussed as potential January signings but Maiga fits most comfortably into United’s requirements on age, salary, price and ability. Most importantly, he is interested in moving to St James’ Park. The Journal understands French reports claiming a move is close to fruition are premature, with Alan Pardew intending to take in a Sochaux game in the coming weeks to deliver a final verdict on the player. But despite no formal agreement, United have stolen a march on the rest of the chasing pack and the odds are stacked in their favour.

It's not because they like us as such though. They just see Spurs as a threath for the fourth place.
-
Tbf, he's "always" said he reckons Maiga is the man we'd end up with.
-
MsiDouglas Mark Douglas L'Equipe jumped the gun with Maiga I think. Think they'll get him but not 'done deal'. Details of #NUFC striker hitlist in Journal tomorrow Well, they said by the end of the week...

3-2. Match over. Parky 4-4 Dalglish.
-
West Ham 1-0 down to Southampton. Good stuff.
-
Ranger again. 2-1. Cross from Ferguson.

Who's having a go at him? You are being overly negative/having a go. He's been 1 year out, and within his first hour of football there is people complaining about his performance. It's just wrong. Everyone knows he will need time.
-
Aye. Was at least one yesterday that wanted to start Ameobi to see what he could do alongside Ba. Baffling.
-
Ridiculous having a go at Ben Arfa already.
-
He's not playing for them today. He'll play a bigger role against Wigan.
-
Think he's been used there quite a few times. Obviously without players like Cabaye or Tioté around him, but still. Haven't exactly set the world alight. Ben Arfa is a way better player.
-
I suppose his movement could be compared to Adebayor's, but he's not as good as holding the ball up, or as good in the air. He looks at his best (to me) turning with his back to goal and running at defenders. I suppose that is why he can play of the left of a front three, because of him mobility and dribbling ability. He's a good finisher, and gets himself in goal-scoring positions, which is exactly what we need imo. He's not exactly small, but will give us a great alternative to Ba and Best. Agree with most of this, except the heading part. For his height (1.85m) he is terrific in the air. Wins a lot of headers when attacking, and also scores the odd (well, quite a few actually) goal with his head.

Probably the €9m fee which was mentioned a few days ago.

So bored of talk about players going out because they play well. Irritates the f*** out of me.
-
Not convinced with what? With time, Ben Arfa will be a regular. Simple as that.
-
If Simpson should get disposed, then surely it would be Santon on the right. Santon and Tavernier should then be enough. Would get a left back instead if that was the case.
