Except that every single FF team in the world has Mignolet on it. I've got De Gea

Don't understand how Welbeck is preferred to Sturridge. Sturridge has definitely kicked up his game a gear or two since joining this lot being given more freedom and trust to play his football.

It's amazing what you can do with an understanding of the pass and move basics. If the possession is actually used to create chances, sometimes Liverpool get stuck in the mix of just keeping the ball without ever threatening, lost a lot of points at home last season because it.

The stumping other managers for a full season was a sarcastic comment as you claimed they never sussed him till last season but if his tactics were so one dimensional, why did it last a full season? Why couldn't managers during that season figure him out? How didn't Brendan Rodgers figure out that we would turn up, press his team all over the pitch then hit them with slick counter attacking football when they gave away posession? Why couldn't fergie work we would target their centre backs and would use the long ball to good effect? Why couldn't a lot of teams break us down? It wasn't simply a season of wonder goals and getting bailed out by two players. Our tactics were spot on, our organisation was brilliant, our work rate was superb and confidence was sky high. We hit a few bad spells and took a few maulings but we bounced back and showed good character when we did. Nobody expected us to achieve what we did, expectations went through the roof the next summer, sign more players, we are in Europe, start of something good again, the whole city was given a massive lift, you could just feel it around town during the season and Europe had everyone dreaming again. Christ, at one point we were even thinking about Champions League!!! Unfortunately it all came crumbling away last season and turned into an absolute nightmare, atmosphere had the opposite effect, you were going to games more anxious and worried at what the outcome might be, you could sense the nerves and tension. That's why i've said a good start is crucial this season, a win against west ham would be massive and then back it up against Fulham to get the confidence flowing and the belief factor back around the city, kick on from there and anything is possible again.

I know, compared to Pardew they're all a step backwards. I'm laughing because you seem oblivious to the fact that if the 'fraud' is sacked, the director of football mentioned to scout our new manager, will in fact scout himself and advise Mike to hire him, which he will.

Still no praise for Pardew, canny. 'Clogging style' had other managers stumped for a full season. Aye sounds legit.

"they" were expected to fail i said, let me retract and say "not expected to succeed" if that helps you i've come to the conclusion you know absolutely nothing about football brett, nothing at all Just like Newcastle weren't expecting success when they haven't replaced Carroll and spent the 35 million, they've sold Enrique, they've sold Nolan, they've released Barton and brought in 'jokers' like Cabaye for 4 million? Works both ways. Just your basically trying to go down the line of we fluked the 5th because of a few good players. The original point which was made 'you need a good manager to have a very good season' is basically what Pardew proved to be incorrect, like i say, if he is in fact poor. I think your trying to deflect away praise for Pardew for our season we finished 5th, people don’t want to believe he actually did it. He, Alan Pardew, got a side who were the underdogs, fighting for a champions league spot. No two ways about it.

i'd like the facepalm explained brett, disgrace tbh Facepalm explaination: Basically Swansea have had one good year under Laudrup, finished 7th. We had our good year under Pardew finished 5th. He then went on to fail last season. We don't know how Laudrup will get on this season yet but Pardew has proved as well with a 'half decent squad you can still have a good season' but everyone is in sort of agreement he isn’t a good manager which makes the original point incorrect (you need a good manager), if it is to believed he is in fact poor. well, as tron was pointing out swansea were essentially a new promoted team in their second season in the PL, laudrup came in and signed jokers like michu for 2m and they were expected to fail....alas they thrived and won a cup due to have a manager who knew how to coach good football, rotate a small squad, and succeed when it looks like the odds were against him, that type of thing contrast wtih AP who went into in his best ever season with a plan a...it worked then it started to fail, badly, only he was lucky enough to have 2 double figures strikers hitting form at the right time...actually that wasn't quite enough, it took ben arfa to force him to play him and embark on a period of quality football for say 8 matches that we'd never seen the entire season the same system he abandoned at the start of the next season to such wonderful effect i don't know man, your wish to believe pardew will "turn it around" seems to know no bounds, not even those of reality Can't even be arsed to climb down the hole you've just dug to explain a reply to you. Michu expected to fail

The team you've set up is exactly why i haven't came on here and slagged us off and remained positive throughout the summer. I've seen Pardew get us to 5th with a worse side so i'm backing him to get things back on track but last season was so bad, it's going to take a lot of hard work and effort to overturn that disaster so much to get top 8, but it's possible, so i'm all in.
-
I'd like to add that i personally don't think he's up to it. Anything less than 8th and he's failed imo. However, i hope to be completely wrong and for him to really show some strong managerial form that makes us a dangerous and exciting team. Roll on Monday! Bit harsh considering a lot of people think we are in for a relegation battle. High expectations to say top 8 or failed. I personally think we will be there abouts and fancy us to get in top 8 but wouldn't say he's failed if he gets top half to steady the sinking ship.

Another one of Dogleash's signing ditched i reckon. Sign him back when Debuchy leaves with Cabaye and move Santon right back

The Battle For More Points than 2010/11 - SUCCESS!

Pardew bottled it against Man City at SJP. Negative c***. Complaining that he didn't get us 4th No pleasing some. -
It's just common sense it makes things tougher, don't need quotes, don't need to be a manager, you don't need to be a player. If you're preparing two different sets of tactics for two matches in space of a few days rather than just having the usual Saturday to Saturday general routine, it's obviously going to be more difficult having the two. Especially when a lot of our players weren’t used to that format and neither was our manager. It was a learning curve for everyone, no surprises Pardew is happy to have a break from it so he can solely concentrate on the league to try and get things back on track, obviously we have League/FA cup but that’s nothing new (we’ll still go out early).
-
Whoopy do, we finished second in the group? Does that really matter? We got furthur than the team who topped us anyways. We had a decent campaign in Europe, we went out giving it our best shot, we just fell short.
-
Never said we didn't, i said generally we played a strong side and respected the cup, early doors we got away with it against worse opposition but soon as we progressed, Pardew took it serious and fielded good line ups, he didn't field kids and keep them for the league, he give Europa his best shot but in the end we just fell short and had it not been for a 20 minute poor spell in the away leg then who knows what the outcome might have been. We will be back in it sooner rather than later with the quality we have.
-
Exactly, don't understand all this Pardew hates Europe? He gave it his best shot, never neglected the cup and fielded weakened teams no matter the opposition. Fact of the matter is, that we generally played pretty much our strongest side in Europe and it did bare an impact on our league form and history tells us we weren't the only ones to suffer from it. Be very interesting to see how Laudrup approaches it. Do i want to be in Europe again next season? Course i do. Does Pardew? Course he does. We actually played worse when we were knocked out Never said we didn't? But anyone who thinks playing Thursday/Sunday has no effect on the team and preparation for matches really needs to have a word with them themselves. Our squad wasn’t ready for Europe, neither was Pardew. It was a lesson to the whole club of where we were at.

He's saying it in the sense that we don't have the burden of it again this season after how we struggled last season to cope but we will still aim to be in next season but be more prepared for it. What's wrong with that?
