  1. What will it take you to change your mind? I'm not having the whole good football bullshit, Wigan went down with that. Position wise? Top 4? Top 6? Top 8? ....a trophy? What will it take for people to accept Pardew again and support him and the players? If by some miracle Pardew does get us into the top 5 again or win a trophy, though I still wouldn't like the t***, he would have gained more respect for turning it around. The thing is though, it just doesn't look at all likely. So you would still want him gone if a trophy or top 5/6 finish came? This is my point.

  3. It's the whole negative attitude man. You are all going in to the season like we are doomed to fail before we've even kicked off for the start of the season, that's what is a shame. Gone by december, no chance he'll turn it around, fluked the 5th, going backwards. Just all negative comments and nobody actually getting behind the team and manager with under two weeks till it starts. Sack him posts against Rangers for gods sake.
  4. Sorry 'fun' thread, forgot about the hysterics being posted in here. I shall shift my 'Pardew Loving' elsewhere.
  5. Maybe i was going a bit over the top with the whole needs to be a foreign name call but it just winds me up that i honestly believe no matter what Pardew does achieve, he will still have a section that will just always hate him. There is a posters on here that would rather see us disappoint in our opening games just so he is sacked so we can ship him on which would help us in the future they feel. Just the name Alan Pardew grates on many and his achievements aren't going to differ people's opinions, they want him gone. It has taken a while for him to adapt and try a different approach to be fair he finished 5th then tried same again but things just ended up being a disaster starting with the Ba situation. It might be just me I don’t know, I haven’t seen the stats but I do think long balls are getting fewer and the friendlies played so far seem to have mainly been us passing the ball about without really threatening goal wise and not just hoofing it.
  6. It's all over the forum, even in the rangers friendly thread, calls of get him out. Others go on how they can't stand him, it wouldn't be hard to find quotes of people tearing him to sheds going way beyond just being concerned about his leadership. I'd stick with Pardew over Adkins fwiw.
  7. I'm not talking about past few seasons, i admitted he had played that tactic in the past, i was merely stating since Jan and from what i've seen this season, there has been a decrease in long balls and more passing between defenders/midfielders but struggled to get the service to the strikers. I do think he wants to keep the ball better than we have been doing and working on doing so. His priority is to keep things tight but he can do that by taking control of games with more possession rather than he can with the hoof ball.
  8. Actaully a very good post. I wouldn't say i berate anyone who expresses being fed up, i can see it's understandable, it's the hatred position people take on him, no matter what he achieves here, he won't be good enough because it's Alan Pardew and he's not a huge managerial name or got a pretty foreign name. I’ve got my doubts with him, I really have. I’m not fond of the way things have been going on the pitch either but I just feel for myself, the best way to go into this season now he is here, is to back him and the team and hope we get off to a good start and move on from there and hopefully the confidence gets built quickly which sets the foundations for rest of the season. I may add, I don’t think he’s this hoof ball manager everyone seems to label him as, certainly he has done it in the past, but I do think he is genuinely trying to play the right way with possession football but because we are lacking cutting edge, it’s not looking pleasing on the eye at this moment in time. How can anyone think this, man? Because Colo, MYM, Santon, Debuchy are footballers, if you think Pardew is basically just saying, when you receive the ball look for space further up field and hit the gaps, if not look for Cisse then i think it's you who should be in question and not myself. I'm just going off what i've seen of pre-season so far and towards back end of last season i think there was definitely a decrease in long balls from Jan onwards when Williamson (main culprit) was booted out of the team. I'm not saying he's trying to play this slick passing football, but i definitely feel like he wants possession to be high on our side to take control of games and you almost certainly can't get that by playing hoof ball giving it away cheaply

  10. 7/1 Betvictor That's stinking. Can't believe they've only priced it up at 7/1. Absolute disgrace!
  11. That happened to me when refereeing a 5 a side game except there keeper was actually in goal, he launched ball up to his team mate who was on edge of other box and player went to flick it but missed the ball went straight in with keeper rooted to the spot! Not really knowing what the crack was I just give the goal and said the player got a nick, player confirmed he did, other team hurled abuse at me. I’m guessing it shouldn’t have been given but spur of the moment, calling the flick seemed easiest way out.
  12. stop what you're doing.................everything.........and think about what you posted. No i think he has a point, i think if it's top 4, top 6, i think it's become irrelevant now, the majority on here will still want him shot and buried regardless of how this season pans out. I've mentioned it before, everyone was against him from the start, he won a lot of people over with a 5th place finish but the fair share of them switched back to hating him when it all went tits up last season and I can’t see them switching back to liking him again regardless of what he achieves this year. So whether it’s lifting a trophy or another fantastic league finish, at the end of the day it’s still Alan Pardew in charge and that’s always going to be a problem for many.

So if your attitude isn't correct on the pitch, you starve, basically playing football to earn your right to a meal!
  15. Never seen enough from either to suggest they deserve a first XI place. Jury is still out on the quality of Anita for me, and I doubt he will ever show his quality under Pardew. Seems to be a player with a very specific role who only flourishes in a team playing in a certain way. He might look a good player for Swansea or Liverpool. I thought he looked good under Pardew around the Xmas period when playing regularly and Tiote was injured then off to African Nations, didn't think he deserved to lose his place as soon as Tiote came back, thought Bigi accounted himself well around the same sort of period.

A lot of people say he'll run all day for you and give it his all but then they'll question his attitude? Is it just the fact he's as thick as mince off the pitch where the attitude problem lies? Personally i think it's a decent deal for Wigan, i've certainly seen far worse deals than this. I think he might do decent for them and provide canny service to Holt.

So 1.5 million, who has got the best deal Wigan or mackems?
  18. Credit to the fans inside the ground, they've turned on managers for a lot less. There's been no sort of negative chanting over and over about him, obviously you get the odd few idiots who stand up and hurl the abuse but you come to expect that. Different on here, think the real opinion of him is the majority hate him, just surprised that anger hasn't rolled over and been vented inside the ground. I'm glad it hasn't though, thought considering how bad we were last season we did our best to stick with him and the team. No wonder he generally thinks he is liked.
  19. Even if tactics are wrong or style of play isn't to suit the players, individual ability can still win matches. I'm not saying that will be the case but not always does a good manager have to be in charge of a club for them to win games, class of the players on offer can pull through. I have my doubts regarding Pardew but i'm hoping we can get back on track under him and get some positive results on the board early on and kick on from there like we did couple of year ago.
  20. I'm with you, i think we've lost Ian.
  21. f***ing hell, he's already shitting his pants about Swansea and Southampton. The season hasn't even started yet. Or he's pointing out what many on here have already mentioned about them spending money fairly well and improving their squad, hardly would say he's shitting his pants, i can see they've spent well but i still fancy us to finish above said teams. You are over estimating Pardew. I'm almost certain we will finish below Southampton and Swansea. I wouldn't say i'm overestimating Pardew, i've just got a lot of faith in the quality of our players to put it together on the pitch as a team.
