But they were the people who never wanted him from day 1, many supporters he won over during that season and very few were calling for him to be sacked. Obviously the tragedy of last season just took people back to their feelings of when he was announced as our manager, which can't really be blamed for doing so giving actually how bad last season was. Then now there’s only a few who actually want him to have another crack at it.

Yeah i'm sure your were walking out the ground kicking walls, giving a song and dance for Pardew out after the turgid 1-0 wins.

Liverpool was the worst for me, the line up was the worst i've ever seen in 10 years. I was excited for the match then the team went around and it was a sickening feeling knowing what the likely outcome of the match was going to be. I was praying for 0-0 half time before i even got to the stadium. The Reading game was just an absolute farce, it seemed to me like Pardew was crying out to Mike to get some new players with some of the decisions he made, they were so bad and so far off what should have been happening I thought at the time he was just exaggerating his plea. His tactics were shocking but it was nowhere near as bad as some of the times we saw under Roeder's tenure. I mean the tactics and what players he actually had available and chose not use. The line up for what he had at his disposal was by far the worst decision i've seen. Roeder was horrible but I can’t remember ever having that sickly feeling from just hearing the team news. Never want to feel that again.

Good point. He hardly disrespected Europe? He gave it a good go in terms of team selections bar the first few opening games. He just liked the Europe excuse when our leagues results were damaged. I'm sure Laudrup will pop in the Europe factor excuse on multiple occasions down the line this season on the back of a loss following a Thursday night game. Just an easy thing to give the press, expected.

That is shocking, no getting away from it. No denying that. What i meant from short space of time though was in fact a season. It's not actually a long period of time in a football club especially when managers have been given long contracts to turn things around or achieve success. For me i think there's not enough patience and faith from the boardroom in managers up and down the country. Majority seem to want instant success/results, even if that is achieved and then not backed up or followed up by more success, they are gone. One bad season amongst a few or a bad start to a new job shouldn't necessarily mean you should be instantly binned imo.

Couple on here will still think it's worth it because Downing is making this side good and effective. Great swerve this from our viewpoint. West Ham have been completely caught up in Fat Sam's stats. He probably seen optaJoe yesterday stating Downing was third in the most chances created list so upped his offer and added 10k a week on his wage for good measure.

To be fair, if i was looking at another club in this situation i'd be thinking the same thing, probably surprised lasted the season actually. Bad results in a short period of time in football these days and the outcome does usually end up with the sack. We've just tried to brag about stability for the past few years though so wouldn't look good on our part to follow suit hence probably why one more chance has been given. I would be thinking the same thing too, but then if they stuck with their manager they would probably get a lot of credit from many quarters. If you look at David Moyes and Everton with Kenwright holding his nerve through the troubling times when they were flirting near the bottom on more than one occasion but he stuck by and now he's managing the biggest club in the country. Whether he's earned that position or justified getting that job on his achievements from Everton is open for debate. However had Kenwright sacked him when things got tough, he certainly wouldn't be anywhere near that job right now. I get sick of saying this - Moyes had a better record before he came to Everton and he was much younger than Pardew... There is NO comparison...look at Pardew's CV before NUFC. I wouldn't say Moyes' Cv before he joined Everton made him immune to the sack. He still could have easily gone had patience and faith of Kenwright not been very high. All i was merely stating was it's not always the best option for a club to immediately send their manager to the job centre for one season of failings. Never mentioned past CV's or comparing Moyes and Pardew, just stating having a bit of patience and faith in the manager you hired isn't always a bad thing.

That's insanely accurate! Dammit :'(

Still convinced there's a fan out of shot that has blew his shirt outwards

I've noticed it but i haven't actually seen James get his gloves on and Owen take his place in the box with macca out wide with the ball

Krul Debuchy MYM Colo Santon Tiote Cabaye Sissoko Ben Arfa Remy Cisse I think we will be pretty much that, especially at home. Love the look of our side. Especially when the bench would consist of the likes of Anita, Marv, Gouffran so you've got options to change to.

Don't blame Newcastle for telling them to fuck off personally. Messed about for far too long.

Zola will be sobbing over his weetabix this morning.

Totally agree, almost nobody offers any real insight... it's just a job for ex-footballers who don't know what else to do. The gulf between the standard of cricket and football 'punditry', highlighted in recent weeks, is frightening. Watching the cricket, I feel as if I'm learning more about the game, as well as being interested and entertained. Never felt that way with Peter Beagrie. I know what you mean but i think it's because cricket isn't as popular played so it's interesting to know when Shane Warne is choosing which ball is best out of box of balls or Strauss is showing you where your positioning of feet should be at the crease for certain types of bowls. Imagine Alan Shearer getting up in the studio showing the audience how a penalty should be taken. Just be cringe worthy. Was like when Andy Gray used to get up with Richard Keys then just grab his shirt of wraggle him all over the place showing how tight defenders should be.

Bit of a drawn out way of justifying his choice to start Tony Hibbert for a decade.
-
Love watching Will Hughes play simply because he's a class above the level he's playing and stands out like a sore thumb but personally think it's hard justify paying the 10 million asking price on the evidence so far because it is a gamble like Cajun said. Won't be long before someone does cough up the money though and it certainly won't be us. Exciting prospect nonetheless.

Explains why he's 'so fat' now then.

Same. I don't like that picture one bit. He'll be hiding a monstrous Berba 6 pack underneath there, just a gust of air blowing his shirt outwards, probz the fan which was on during the photo shoot.

Actually just remembered a strange thing my brother told me regarding that. He asked after the game if he was alright and Jonas' sister said he had been complaining of a niggling injury prior to the game and didn't actaully expect to be starting but he should be fine for City.
-
I do think Jonas will be in against City, not doubting that but i'd be surprised if he was in against West Ham at home.
-
I don't think he will be, he'll still be heavily involved throughout the season but he's by no means a gaurenteed starter. Remy takes his place on the left wing and he's not good enough to play in the middle with the standard of players we currently have. So you think we'll be playing 4-3-3 with Remy and HBA either side of Cisse? I hope you're right like, but imo it'll most likely be Remy & Cisse up top with Ben Arfa and Jonas holding the hands of Debuchy and Santon. For pretty much the entirety of last season the formation/team we should have played seemed obvious to the fans (whether we were right or wrong) but Pardew saw it a completely different way, unless he's genuinely changed as a manager I cannot see why this season would be any different? I think just go back to when it was Ba left, Cisse up top and Ben Arfa right, think Pardew has tried to get back to that ever since and failed. Ba wanting to play up top so Cisse went out wide, Gouffran came in and sort of played that role but we've just never got the balance right like it was when Ba was there. With the 4-4-2 it means he's drop Sissoko and i don't think he'd leave him on the bench. Against certain sides 4-4-2 maybe adopted but certainly think the 4-3-3 option is where we will try to go at least.
