One of the players must have mentioned seeing no light at the end of the tunnel, and his words taken literally.
  2. Anyway, I've made my points and will just leave it at that as mentioned earlier. The majority seems to think Fulham have done a poor deal on this one.
  3. Ok, we take his earlier years into consideration compared to his more recent years. 6 seasons in the Championship btw, he was sold mid-season to Leeds. A proven player who scores when played as a striker, and assists when played in a withdrawn role is pretty much an asset to any team. And you won't need to give him time to settle to a new league like a foreign striker would need to.
  4. http://i.imgur.com/t39MNWU.png?1 3 out of 6 seasons when it comes to his goalscoring record actually. And he was apparently played out of position in the 2012-13 season, and still weighed in with 12 assists.
  5. It's almost like they are playing FM in the office during the off-season.
  6. What's the point of that article?
  7. Don't think anyone can fault this attitude there.
  8. This forum's in good hands.

  11. No celebratory gifs? Your standards have dropped, bimps.
  12. Sure you could try getting someone 'better' and cheaper but you would be taking a risk whether he performs. Getting a proven striker in that division that guarantees you goals comes at a premium though. Edit: nice delete. I'd decided I couldn't be arsed. Cheers for quoting it I'm out too. Decided that I should enjoy whatever is left of what has been generally a great WC so far. The long season ahead can wait.
  13. Would love him here but no chance of that ever happening imo.

  15. He's the Championship top scorer and anyone wanting him would have to pay around that fee to get him. Rhodes, whom Blackburn bought for 8m from League 1 would probably cost more than that. Zaha was sold for 15m. If you want the division's top players you will have to pay the asking price. To fans of a club like us, we should even care less about paying an extra couple millions if we actually get a player we need. Who else are you going to get for 10m that will guarantee you goals and a return to the massive tv deal?
  16. If that's the best you can come up with, you should stick to your OTT criticism of players marra.
  17. I don't see the correlation between how we shop and the fee for McCormack. £11m for a championship striker is nuts. Remy's original fee was £8m was it not, and hence why he wanted to be able to leave for the same amount if QPR got relegated. I'm guessing you would have been horrified if we spent £11m on McCormack, and rightly so. When we were linked people were talking about £5m at the most, or they'd be p*ssed! Liverpool have just spent £10 million on a 19 year old with a ton of potential, who was already scoring goals at the top level in France. The Lassoga guy who was already scoring goals in the top level in Germany, at 22, has gone for £8m. Something is wrong somewhere. Remy's valuation is definitely well over 10m now. It's his clause that makes him cheap man. We are already mentally-adjusted to laugh at other clubs once they pay whatever the ongoing rates for a player. Anything above 10m and we look at their transfers with NUFC-bargain bin eyes and say it's stupid.
  18. Would you really be happy with paying £11m for Ross McCormack? I would love to see us spend that sort of fee on a player but I'd be a bit p*ssed off if it was for McCormack. Like I said, Fulham identified one of their targets and are willing to pay a couple million more to secure him. We penny-pinch and are not willing to even pay an extra 1m to get our targets across the line. 10m is the average going rate for a striker nowadays and they have got a proven striker in that division. And that's like, 5-6m in 1994 rates? Yeah, I'm bloody envious they are committed to getting their players over the line unlike us.
  19. Does it matter? We shop in different windows and Fulham willing to pay the on-going rate while we keep to 1994 fees doesn't mean they are crazy.
  20. Why is that disturbing? Remy is available for that fee because of his clause. De Jong went for that as he wanted to leave with a year left and had an injury-prone year, and whether he performs up to expectations is still anyone's guess. Just because we shop in the bargain bins doesn't mean that other clubs paying an average fee for a striker by today's standards should be laughed at.
  21. Not a lot for 2 strikers by today's inflated fees tbh. Especially if an average of 11.5m gets you two strikers that can score goals in that division and significantly improve your chances of gaining promotion to the cash cow league at the first attempt.
  22. Meh, just lock this thread until the end of the World Cup. There's plenty of time to get depressed after that.
  23. Leeds would probably reject a £17m offer mind.
  24. Forgot about James McCarthy (£13m). Scottish-born, that is.
