I agree they want to impede the club but I certainly don’t think they have a coherent plan. Hence the usual tactic of kicking the can down the road, because they can do that without any outside governance.

Surely they’ll just keep banning it until they make up new permanent rules. Otherwise what was the point of a temporary ban?

This is where I’m at. I’m not convinced they are going to spunk money on us and it’ll be more around the £50m per window mark but I hope I’m wrong. It’s going to be hard to really tell even in the January window though because I don’t think it’s a true reflection of a clubs long term transfer policy.

Re: Wijnaldum. We were a stepping stone club back then and players joined knowing it was a stepping stone onto more successful ‘destination’ teams. I think when players were ready to go or wanted their move then they kind of downed tools a bit with us so it probably explains why Wijnaldum faded as he did. We’re now (hopefully!) a destination club or will be soon if the rumours of us having loads of money are true (I’m not fully sold on this yet it has to be said) so I’m hoping any players we do get of Wijnaldum’s calibre will be giving it their all to make us a success and not just used as a stepping stone.
