  1. I don’t think it’s official yet, but with lack of match day revenue, loss of ticket sales, loss of broadcasting money, potential loss of league money etc etc, it seems fairly certain that FFP will either be relaxed or suspended for a period of time (2 years has been talked about) in order for struggling clubs to remain and pay staff/players etc. It certainly makes sense theoretically, but the advantage for ‘well off’ clubs is obvious. https://www.football-addict.com/en-us/article/home/uefa-entertaining-financial-fair-play-relaxation-amid-coronavirus-difficulties/5e8df7c912fb4645820a4d73
  2. The question asked was how much do you think the potential new owners will spend not what they could spend. Anyone expecting Man City/Chelsea levels of spending will be in for a disappointment. They’ll not be spending £100m per window Why not? We know nothing about their intentions or policies, other than presuming they want success and positive media coverage both in and off the pitch. It could be 100m, it could be 10m. Because everything that they’ve said so far through the media (steady sensible investment) along with the more researched neutral commentators and journalists (Not a PSG/Man City type scenario) have suggested so for a start. The question was asked. I give my balanced opinion. £100m a window (£200m a season). No chance. I don’t think that they’ve said ANYthing through the media yet, either directly or otherwise. People taking about steady sensible investment are only going off their opinion about FFP and the apparent inability to copy the Man City / Chelsea route. They have. Go check. Nothing official but that’s not how it works until signed. Same question to you. How much do you think they’ll spend per season? As I already said, I don’t know how much they’ll be spending. No one does. But as the posts since your comment have stated, 50m doesn’t go a long way these days (Joelinton for 40m...), It’s already being suggested that FFP will be relaxed, the Saudis aren’t a slow and steady type - especially if they want comparisons (and victory over) with the Man City / PSG owners. What have you learnt from the press about their intentions? I genuinely can’t find anything other than guesswork?
  3. And turned him into a far superior version of the player we saw here. Or else he ‘turned him’ into the player he always was when we first bought him, and our own training caused him to go backwards.

  6. Lol...ok, you’ve convinced me now.... I wish there were some press articles about us contacting Nagelsmann, but Rafa/Poch are good alternatives...
  7. Trippier wanted to stay, but Pochettino didn’t give him a straight answer- suggests not great man management tbh... https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/kieran-trippier-explains-left-tottenham-19180853.amp
  8. This says otherwise... https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2852169-kieran-trippier-tottenham-exit-disappointing-after-mauricio-pochettino-talks.amp.html
  9. It’s not revisionism at all. Everything that has been said is factually accurate. As I’ve said, I just don’t get why he’s rated so highly, and I’d be looking elsewhere if it was me. He was the one of the first one to bring attacking football with the high press back into fashion when he took over Southampton. Klopp came afterwards iirc. I read somewhere that him and Pep were big disciples of Bielsa, who has always had a very attacking ethos. So that's the reason Poch appeals to me. also bear in mind he was forced to downgrade certain positions at certain times, such as walker to aurier to make money for the club - he was never on a level playing field with those around him in terms of spend, consensus was always he did a great job at spurs until it went sour that last few months furthermore he developed kane, alli & son into the players they are today He also sold Trippier, leaving Aurier as his only ‘decent’ RB, and who wasn’t as good as Trippier in the first place...
  10. Probably the same as any other club having their owners pissing away the whole of their funds on footballers, I’d imagine? not really dude, the entire sovereign wealth of a country is a little different from one blokes bank balance Not arguing for the sake of it, honestly, but the graph merely shows the owners wealth. Other clubs are just as unlikely to spend their entire amount as ours (hopefully!) would. The Reubens are worth 18m- that’s more than any other clubs owner by themselves.

  12. Knowing that every single player coming through the door is going to be an upgrade, a certain starter, is going to be great fun. Even players I know nothing about - if we're signing them, it will be because they're a first team player. I reckon the new owners and manager will be spending a fair bit on upgrading our youth talent too, same as Man City do, taking their pick from academies around the world. We need upgrades throughout all our teams.

  14. Plus the Spurs team were hardly ‘very unfancied’- he spent loads there, on a load of players. And getting to the CL final was more by luck than good management.
  15. Just for those whom haven’t heard of Nagelsmann....have a read. He’s attack minded, innovative, tactically excellent, and a brilliant man manager. He’s a fluent English speaker, loves the English game, and manages some of the best young talent around. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8079969/amp/Meet-Julian-Nagelsmann-worlds-hottest-young-manager.html https://totalfootballanalysis.com/article/tactical-analysis-of-julian-nagelsmann-at-rb-leipzig https://amp.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/why-julian-nagelsmann-is-the-most-exciting-young-coach-in-soccer-rb-leipzig-9104 https://amp.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/julian-nagelsmann-10-things-on-rb-leipzig-s-record-breaking-head-coach-hoffenheim-5300
  16. How does that lose him the dressing room unless he hasn’t got the man management skills to deal with it? Mourinho had the same thing and peddled Bridge ASAP, and then won countless trophies.
  17. Pochettino came out and said that Ndombele (their record signing for 63m) would take two years to get up to speed in the Premier League. Hardly a reassuring comment after spending that fee. He got sacked because he lost the dressing room and the players stopped performing for him.
  18. Not to mention he bought Sissoko for 30m....
  19. I just seriously don’t get the Pochettino love in. He’s spent big, fallen out with his players, won nothing, got to CL final extremely luckily, and left the Spurs team stagnating and in disarray with no replacement for Kane when injured. I’m not saying I dislike the guy, and can see his qualities, but I don’t get why he’s rated quite so highly by some in here.
  20. Lo Celso also came in for big money.
  21. Just as well Liverpool didn't have this short term a view when they appointed Klopp. He'd spent most of his last season at Dortmund fighting the drop. Managers come to the end with one club sometimes, it happens. Pochettino is still on the up as a coach, with the best will in the world I don't think we can say the same about Benitez. Remember they had hardly spent any money the 18 months before he left, he wanted a squad rebuild and didn't get it. Didn’t he buy Ndombele for 63m, Sessegnon for 25, etc etc?

But Klopp was already an established multiple times winning manager? What has Poch achieved?
  23. Didn’t Pochettino lose the Spurs players support prior to being sacked? And he took them from Challenging for 4th and above, down to about 14th?
  24. Nebil Fekir is a name I reckon we should be linked with too. Heavily linked with Liverpool over the past few years, and as far as I know, more than willing to leave his current club. Would fit the no.10 role perfectly.
  25. Nagelsmann is the ‘new’ Tuchel. I think this would be an ideal job for him to get serious recognition outside Germany.
