“Sunderland's ownership group includes Kyril Louis-Dreyfus – son of French billionaire Robert Louis-Dreyfus - holding a 41 per cent stake, Stewart Donald retains a 34 per cent share while Juan Sartori has 20 per cent and Charlie Methven owns the remaining five per cent.”
  2. Nah, of course not. Should be done and dusted over a pint and a pizza in a lunchtime sesh, like Mike used to do.
  3. Keeps Exile and his frothing mates all glued to the telly.
  4. Thought that was West Ham? Might’ve been Villa I guess after they signed Carlos, but I read they wanted both.
  5. He’s on a free so any transfer fee money would go on wages instead. He’s already on £60k at Burnley- he’ll want way more than that.
  6. https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-everton-offer-120000-a-week-deal-to-james-tarkowski-amid-newcastle-update/?amp https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10851233/Aston-Villa-make-double-money-offer-120-000-week-Burnley-defender-James-Tarkowski.html?ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490&ito=1490
  7. It’s been quoted that Everton and Villa are offering £120k. That’s what’s he’s after as his last contract, and coming on a free.
  8. But Tarkowski is on significantly higher wages, so would eat into that £10m FFP ‘saving’. And he’s no better playing wise- just seems a daft idea to me.
  9. Sky say a deal was accepted in Jan: https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/12040/12529331/hugo-ekitike-newcastle-have-transfer-deadline-day-bid-accepted-for-reims-forward now that we’re less desperate I’d imagine we won’t be going in with the same offer to Reims.
  10. Maybe those others weren’t available in January and we’re now investigating the possibility of alternatives? As per the above posts, I think a deal was struck but it was extremely last minute, and the player himself wasn’t sure. Now the season has ended, the terms of that deal wouldn’t necessarily apply again, to any of the concerned parties.
  11. And this is from Ekitike: However, their attempts to sign him in January fell through, despite an agreement reportedly being found with Reims on deadline day. It was Ekitike himself to scupper the move, since he favoured staying with Reims for the rest of the season. Now, the forward has broken his silence on his decision to remain with Reims rather than make the move to Newcastle. “I have a lot of respect for that big club,” he told L’Equipe. “But it was all happening very quickly; the timing wasn’t right. “It was better to stay here, to play a full season, to establish myself.” https://www.teamtalk.com/newcastle-united/hugo-ekitike-explains-why-january-transfer-wasnt-right
  12. 154 league games with 29 league goals in the last 6 years. On a basic contract of £290kpw, that averages £588k per game. Scandalous waste of £90m salary as well as his £90m+ transfer fee. (226 games, 39 goals total for the 6 year period, which averages over £400k per game played).
  13. Asensio has zero league assists this season. It’s the first time he’s ever reached double figures in league goals. He does not even average a dribble completed, key pass, or foul drawn per game in the league. His Champions League statistics are similarly abysmal. For £160kpw? No thanks.
  14. Tarkowski is on more money and is of a similar (if not lesser) standard. We don’t need a relatively paltry £10-12m in the bank, simply to increase the wages for no playing benefit.
  15. Richarlison charged with improper conduct after throwing a flare into the crowd at Goodison vs Chelsea on 1st May

Anything that means they can get one up on us, whether that’s cultural morality or finances, then logic goes flying out the window and they’ll be desperately clutching at.
  18. Irrespective of the specific ages that graph shows, the fact remains that our squad IS too heavy with aging players. Iirc, either Howe or Staveley have stated as such, that the average age needs to come down.
  19. There was a fair bit of talk about utilising loan to buy arrangements to bypass FFP- we’ll undoubtedly do one or two of these type of deals as well as permanent transfers.
  20. https://www.thefootballboardroom.com/2021/12/30/chelsea-finances-2021-champion-losses/amp/ good summary
  21. Running costs are a big issue- they were/are losing significant amounts per week. And their wage bill is second highest in the PL at £333m. As well as spending significantly on players (200m+ last year?)
  22. Debt (or lack of) doesn’t affect it, I think?
  23. Don’t know. I think the debt just got cancelled. The figure of 4.25bb for the club is supposedly 2.5bn for the club and the 1.75bn extra on top guaranteed for stadium, infrastructure and squad building I think?
