I think Jonas has consistently shown that his attacking has very little end product. While I dont think Obertan is class, he has shown glimpses of very good stuff. As Ive said before, it will be a lot easier for him to do more when Cabaye, Marveaux and Benny are all on the rampage. Jonas always reminds me of what I would do if given a game. Head down, run like fuck then shit myself.

Radio says it wasnt his fault.

Why transfer the poor end product to the right? Marveaux on the left and stick with Obertan on the right for the minute. Think he will be more effective when we have creativity also coming in from Marveaux, Cabaye and Ben-Arfa. Defences will be in a head spin.

L'Equipe: Modibo Maiga fails medical; transfer 'abandoned'

Agree. He was our third or fourth choice by all accounts and looks as if he's only really had a decent'ish spell at sochaux. I mean 14 in 36 is not bad but it's not setting the world on fire. Hopefully everyone has been severely scolded following the summer and Mr Carr is out their tying up the striker version of Cabaye. I would think that the reason we pursued him up until the final day was because Carr rated him highly in any case. The fact that Sochaux refused to sell him also suggests they must rate him pretty highly, one season or not. Possibly. But still not Mr Carrs first choice if the Gameiro, Gervinho, Erdinc stuff is true. -

Good article on the Ben Arfa return here from Mr Bird. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/simon-bird/Newcastle-United-column-by-Simon-Bird-Don-t-expect-miracles-yet-from-Hatem-Ben-Arfa-s-long-awaited-injury-comeback-article801841.html I wasnt aware of this....

Only ever seen Ben Arfa play live against Darlo and cant recall a great deal about his appearances for us apart from that goal and also know nothing of him prior to us. My worry (and its only a little one) is that him and cabaye will be competing over those edge of box screamers. He tried a couple at Darlo. I would hate to see Cabaye slink back deep leaving it to Ben Arfa.

well i think we've learned the hard about believing what "MA's team" say haven't we? tbf buying the club when he did fits his business modus operandi, former top brand fallen on hard times and needs reviving, available at a good price....it's the reviving part where it all went wrong so he either had no intention of doing that (makes no sense), didn't/doesn't know how to (plausible) or something else... also don't forget this was right before the crash, clubs were being bought by billionairres, americans etc. and there was still a general good feeling around football itself, the bubble was still to burst as such, as we know he's a gambler maybe he thought he could tick over until he was able to offload it at a profit I think that's pretty spot on.

No offence to any posters but I hope we dont see some of these shit formations actually take to the field. We should really try and win both cups and not muck around sending out second teams. A few changes ok, but know a second team. Elliot Simpson -- Taylor -- Colochini -- Ferguson Obertan -- Cabaye -- Albeid -- Marveaux Ben Arfa Best Send out a team thats strong enough to boss the game and win it easily rather than a scrappy energy sapping affair with blood and snots and dangerous tackles. Win it quick and move on.

I dont buy the quick turnaround line. Very quickly when Mort was running the show we had the proper family section introduced and all though it went tits up, attempts were made to bring some structure to the club with the appointment of a football director and the scouting side etc. Just not the sort of things you get into if its a quick sale. Bad decision making caused the shit and sensible decision making now seems to be getting us out of it.

Just got to say this... is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Sitting here spell bound watching it and sadly, trying to memorise some of the moves.
