The bottom line is we probably wont make the Champions league and even Europa might prove a bridge too far. Therefore I couldn't give a toss whether we then finish 9th or 14th etc and would much rather have a cup instead. A very good cup run is a real possibility with this team so lets please throw everything at it.

Really take more to Pardew with each passing game. He is slowly making us a very decent team. He has worked wonders defensively and is now cracking the possession and attack. Happy times.

Thing is as well with Cabaye sending in rockets like that and Ben Arfa, there are going to be a lot of poachers goals up for grabs. Just what we need until a number 9 arrives.

Had you signed up here under your usual sig explained the above (knowing quite a few post on both forums) and possibly linked to a £5 donation as the start of you paying up it would have looked better. I used to post a little bit on here during the heady days of a potential takeover when you had that marvellous poster Sillious Sod or something. I used to hang on his every word.... This week is the first time I've "lived and breathed" this forum and I must confess to being very impressed (so far). I will probably post a lot less over here as there seems a lot more posters over here with similar viewpoints. It also seems a much busier forum so there is much more to read as well. Ive enjoyed most of my time on Toontastic however I think the lack of any real moderation has diminished the place and the anti Ashley view, while understandable, has got so bad that it gets in the way of discussing most football topics. Maybe Im just war weary after everything thats happened since 2008 but this just seems nowt in comparison previous events. Regardless whether he cant flog it yet or is simply using it for himself, this is where football is going and while people laugh at what goes on in the states, thats exactly where we are heading. This continual rise in players salaries will only lead to more and more money being squeezed out of the game. Cant understand why people still want to see Jonas on the left. He has no end product whatsoever. I appreciate he can bring the ball out of defence, but this usually only relieves the pressure for seconds as the ball is very quickly given back to the other team allowing them to attack again. Give Marveaux a try or even let young Fergie have a run. We desperately need some creativity and ammunition for our forwards and he has consistently proved that he can do neither.

Alright flouncer? Barton's shins might disagree with you on that one btw. Just a thought on Tiote / Cabaye, if Pardew plans on using Ben Arfa in front of them in some sort of central attacking role, might it be worthwhile hoying Ba in that role just to see how things pan out? For all Gary Neville's crack about us being a settled unit, there seems like a long way to go for us yet to get some coherency to our midfield play. Aye canny Its like home from home over here. Rather than Ba in that role we should persist with Gosling until Ben Arfa is ready (Not that Im convinced we should have all our eggs in the ben arfa basket. I think Ba would just end up wandering up top rather than being that link between midfield and the striker.
