Pretty similar to La Liga, iirc Levante's entire wage bill was less than Messi's by some distance
-
We're playing all the big teams shortly aren't we? Bet we lose a few and suddenly there'll be loads of 'club in crisis' articles everywhere
-
I was wondering if this is going to be the first game where I wouldn't be massively disappointed losing so can watch pressure off and hopefully enjoy a good performance, then realise we will score in first 10 minutes and I will be hugely nervous about holding on for the rest of the match
-
They understand what a massive PR fuckup this is, especially since it wasn't going to happen anyway in all likelihood.

Did we sign him cos we thought he'd grow another 2ft then?
-
14 year old goalkeeper? We should sell him to Man U quick!

well yes, should more have said 'excuse' they say to help them sleep at night

The motivation behind this is due to the dominance of Barca and Real Madrid, top clubs in England see them racing ahead of them in European competition with more funds etc and want similar TV money. Wrong thinking though, dominance is cyclical anyway, Barcalona can't keep it up forever, incomes rise and will fall, and it's depressing that the way to beat other clubs is now thought of in purely terms of outspending them.

lets not get ahead of ourselves, could be he's arranged a loan deal to newcastle
-
If the Bosman ruling got overturned and made it easier for clubs to hold onto players, then a wage cap might do less damage. Having said that don't believe losing the ability to attract the big names players is no disaster really, it is unfortunate, but at some point one has to imagine the economy is going to catch up with the big European clubs and players will disperse more. Nothing's going to happen any time soon, it's going to take some economic disaster to happen to a big club for everyone to start getting their houses in order.
-
I am depressed now you monsters! It's not a bad team, I just want to see HBA!
-
NUFC is bigger than one player, if he can't understand why he isn't being played till he's fully fit and pisses off because of it then he's not worthy of the club. Some of us like the club not just the player you know. I am very very much looking forward to him playing and being a regular starter, which he blatantly will be shortly.
-
If this does happen what are the chances of what they threatened in spain, of clubs remaining on a collective deal refusing to put out proper teams and bothering to play the big clubs? Would be brilliant, imagine match of the day "and now newcastle have sat down and having tea on the pitch while man u score"
-
I wouldn't pile all the blame on him, imagine the top clubs have long been talking about this between themselves. Liverpool probably first to come out and say it
-
Can Newcastle join the Bundesliga?
-
Dunno if it was said on here but Harry wants the england job for Brazil world cup, since there's no UK - Brazil extradition treaty
-
He has enough mitigating factors, played only a few days ago, had a knock perhaps, wants to preserve himself for the weekend etc etc And he's allowed an off day, especially when he's not playing for us (sorry france )
-
Maybe he was daydreaming about Newcastle

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/oct/11/liverpool-breakaway-tv-deal?CMP=twt_gu So they want to get more money than the other clubs, so that the league is even less even than it already is. In all honesty, even in the event Newcastle could get more money I think that it's pretty disasterous for the quality of football in the league. It's not an especially competitive league, and this would only make it worse. Hopefully nothing will come of it.

30 tackles is pretty great too, wouldn't even mind if he got some more yellows like that. We should sign Tierney based on this too
