Sanchez will probably stay now, at least this season. The potential buyers are dwindling down tbh.

I believe everything in that article except the Townsend stuff, can't see that being true at all.

There are those here who will know more than me, but based on the little I have seen Juve will be laughing all the way to the bank.

They will, people tend to overrate the impact of spending loads of money. I don't see how Lukaku takes Man Yoo from 6th to above Spurs for example. It's not like Ibrahimovic was struggling to score last year. Spurs and Chelsea were above everyone else last year because they were the most balanced, efficient and took their chances regularly. I really don't think enough teams will do that better for things to change drastically.

Rafa is truly a magician if he manages that.

I have said this before but if he wanted to leave and be at the centre of a team he had no other choice, no one else in the world is mental enough to pay the release clause.

For that it's fine, anything more though it's very underwhelming.

In form striker

Aye, that's my stance as well. To think he's ONLY gone for the money is incredibly close minded. No one denies it's one of a few factors though.

While i agree with HTT in general, it sure as hell seems like Brighton are not aiming for much at all. I don't recall them signing anyone at all so far.

I certainly think a lot of folks on here are underestimating the ability we do have in the squad when assessed against the vast majority of the sides in the PL. They seem to be trying to compare us to Chelsea, Manure, Liverpool or Spuds. Of course we are nowhere near that quality, but we are a lot closer to the likes of Watford, WBA, Stoke , Southampton and even West Ham than folks on here want to make out. If we can steer clear of major injuries we'll be absolutely fine, where we will have problems is if we have to dip to far into our squad as there is a huge drop off in quality in certain areas. I think most understand that, i just feel like most expect a lot more than being involved a relegation scrap with Rafa managing the team and the owner is threatening that.

Of course he will, but 50 is still a tough ask. Ibra only did it once and he was the CF.

Unless I'm missing something, the only way we could go out and spend money we don't yet have in the bank is if Ashley loaned the club more. Obviously I think he should given the circumstances, but the club itself likely doesn't have the capital to do what we want them to do. Trouble is i don't particularly believe him maybe i'm naive though. Even if it's 100% correct him loaning us the money to improve the squad makes far more sense than going into a season short. You can make up £20m in football p*ss easy if you're not f***ing about. Oh 100%, thing is and i'm talking out of my arse here but i genuinely don't believe that's even necessary.

The gap in money if further than i thought Genuinely shocked 22k would make Haidara St Etienne's top earner.

Very good article which I feel sums up a situation I've been expecting for a few seasons. Finally we are approaching that transfer market stand-off where wages at clubs have gotten so silly that clubs can't get rid of the deadwood because the players are refusing to take pay cuts in order to play football. If I was a Riviere or a Haidara and getting silly money here then I can't say I would be keen to abandon that to go elsewhere. Certainly not given the form and fitness record of those two. They may as well run down their contracts, take their money and then take their chances of someone picking them up on the free when their contract expires. We aren't the only club in this situation though. Majority of the lower half of the Premier League are in the same boat and nobody is rushing out to splash the money to strengthen their squad. It has a knock-on effect up the league as well with the bigger clubs unable to shift players they don't want simply because the other clubs can't afford them. In previous years someone would always gamble on players leaving Arsenal, Man Um Chelsea etc but there is going to come a time, and it may be this season, where clubs simply won't be able to because they can't shift their own deadwood to make room for them. This is a good point, might explain why there's a lot less buying across the league than some thought and most of the "lesser" clubs don't seem to be buying at all.

He hasn't played enough to be down or up on him personally.
-
It's the risk you take for clubs who can afford it, if he has another season like last year nobody will care.
-
If Mbappe proves last season wasn't a fluke and that's a risk worth taking he'll probably end up being the best striker in the world in a couple of years. Also keeping away from Madrid is probably worth it to Barca anyway

Looks a pretty shit shoe tbh, if that's not a struggle I don't know what is.
