I know we have been linked with the lad from Liverpool but I don't think we need another winger personally. AM, Striker and GK are obvious needs and we'd all like another LB but personally I'd like another CM as well.

Loan first buy later is something you see European clubs do all the time, I'm genuinely surprised more English clubs don't do it. It's a smart way of balancing your books while getting the player you want.

For starters he obviously didn't play anywhere enough to be determined anything at all. Secondly he'll be playing a completely different role than he did for Dortmund.

I understand why you feel that way, it's understandable but personally I would prefer to hope for the best and if he's shit we'll cross that bridge.

I mean Samaris didn't play much himself this past season. Seems a bit silly to judge a player on stats without actually watching him.

I know Ryder shot it down but it would be nice if we can get the Greek lad in as well. Would solidify the midfield and then Rafa can focus at sorting out a AM and striker. FWIW Ryder seemed to suggest a bit further on that we are in talks for Samaris, just that an official bid hasn't been lodged yet: Would be class if we got Samaris and got rid of Colback. Merino, Diame, Hayden, Shelvey and Samaris would be decent group of CMs on paper.
