Being comfortable on the ball isn't quite as important as long as he's playing with Mbemba or Clark to offset that as both are very good on the ball. Obviously with Lascelles it might be an issue.

Honestly he has all the tools, i have seen him utterly dominate Costa for example. But he has had concentration issues which holds him back, i trust Rafa can reign him in though.

To explain a little bit Yorkie, a couple of years ago when he was like 17 Carvalho was hyped to the bloody moon. Comparisons to Vieira and what not, but since then he's fallen off the radar of the elite a little bit. Not to say he's actually a fraud or anything but the CL clubs are not as keen as they were. He'd still be a bloody great signing for us based on what I have seen for Portugal.(not gonna pretend I watch Lisbon on a regular basis or anything ) Despite his standing dropping a little bit, he'd still represent a coup considering what we have been under Ashley. I still find it a bit unrealistic, but I do feel like this is the type of player we should be targeting. A young player who while talented is off the radar of the big clubs for what ever reason.

Which multiple Dutch teams don't want him? Ajax and clearly based on his reported performances Alkmaar don't either. Not being funny but if you struggle to perform in the Eredivisie then he's clearly not good enough anymore.

What about Krul, everyone seems to forget about probably the best keeper on our books right now. Not anymore, he's crap now which is why Rafa let him go on loan and apparently wants to sell him.

Didn't stop us getting nearly 70m for Sissoko, Wijnaldum and Townsend. Honestly i think that's a bad mindset to have, there's plenty of times where teams had quality players who got relegated. With that said i wouldn't want Ranocchia as i have seen him play many times for Inter and he's not very good, although i wouldn't be against signing Maguire.
