I've enjoyed the competition of it all tbh, refreshing change from club football. I suppose though it depends what you are looking for.

Should have picked Italy tbh, if only because Messi playing with Pirlo before he retired would have been fun.

Except Ronaldo has 3 goals in his previous 3 whole WCs, while Messi's Argentina went to the final last time. Before the Spain game, Ronaldo's performances at a WC has been meh at best. I mean come on man, that argument is short sighted and forgetting everything that happened before this week. There's a lot of things you can say in favour of both players but this argument that Messi doesn't perform for Argentina and Ronaldo carries his team is just wrong.

Don't know about Switzerland but Serbia play good football IMO, even if they seem to lack pace.

That was more because Croatia didn't play that well tbh until the first goal, the fact Aguero and Messi hardly touched the ball says all you need to know. They are just incapable of getting the ball near the box. By definition that's a terrible performance.

Unless Argentina improve drastically i don't see how any other outcome tbh.

I think the biggest crime is when you see Messi having to stand next to Mascherano just to get the ball You won't see any great player at this tournament having to do the same just to get involved. When your superstar forward has to pick the ball up at the half way line you know you fucked up.

Honestly take Messi out of this side and it's in the worse 5-8 teams on the tournament imo. Portugal without Ronaldo is the same.. doesnt stop him/them It's not even remotely comparable. Portugal are extremely well drilled, well balanced and a very decent side. It's not the same as portugal at all Thans to management and tactics. Comare player for player ability there's little difference. "being surrounded by this joker team" implies the other players are shit. They've got Higuain, Di Maria & Dybala on the bench. Icardi didnt even make the squad. Aye but they aren't playing. Portugal have good players all over the pitch atm, some are not performing to the standard they can so they are relying on Ronaldo's goals and the organisation defensively but there isn't a player who played in their last game who is objectively bad. Ridiculous to even compare people like Bernado Silva, Joao Moutinho to the players for Argentina atm, they would walk into this team blindfolded.

Messi only had 20, tells you all you need to know about the lack of quality behind them.
