It wasn't much of a gamble because they would have gone down if they hadn't acted. 100% believe this Spot on, they headed into oblivion with good old Marty. however this upturn is remarkably similar to when Marty first arrived Few of my mackem mates at work reckon this aswell like, say they were 100% gone. I actually thought they would have scraped over the line but I don't watch them on a weekly basis like them. They also say they would have been beaten opponents before a ball was kicked in the derby, no matter how bad we were. The main thing is that Di Canio has them attacking at least and looking to score. An attribute highly rare under MON.

Sounds decent that. What the hell actually goes on on the training ground would be a one I ask.

Sunderland got rid of the negativity within the club when they sacked the manager, we haven't done that. I saw it as a gamble more than anything. Admittedly it looks to have worked for them.

The corner statistic is becoming ridiculous now like.

Yeh, he's got a lot to answer for anyway.

Nothing to do with formations there is more to do with football than formations..... Its due to how little movement and how the players are completely and utterly shackled by Pardew's tactics. We never have more than a couple of a players in the box at a time, that is the reason we struggle to create we are always too deep and trying to cross to two players who have no aerial power in the box and just watching the ball come back at us time and again. http://i71.servimg.com/u/f71/16/55/20/10/nufc10.png Out of all that playing in our own half is the key reason why we struggle to create and score goals, the formation is irrelevant what is relevant how ever is the tactics and mentality of the manager. Everton and Liverpool hardly have bigger and stronger squads but what they do have vastly superior coaches. I know that man and I agree with you. What i'm basically saying that no-one is exempt from blame. But as the games pass it's becoming more and more on the managers head.

It's absolutely no doubt that Pardew should be getting better out of the players he's got available. The Europa league may have had an effect to a degree, but that doesn't excuse the baffling lack of ability to even perform the basics at times and that's a continuing worry. Nor does it excuse his strange tactics and one dimensional approach to games. The players seem ok with him but it's very debatable wether he can truly take us forward next season. One big weakness for me is the way Pardew has responded to criticism. When he first came he always seemed to portray himself decent in the press with what he said - it's like now he's gone the total opposite. No doubt in my mind that getting us 5th made him far cockier. Undoubtedly the squad was two thin initially to compete with the bloated fixture list and combine that with the aforementioned issues it was a horrible mixture. His increasingly tiresome interviews are wearing thin and they hardly help matters. The Sunderland match was basically our season in microcosm. Despite the worries growing over Pardew, the players have done little to help themselves imho. The likes of Gutierrez & Tiote have been consistently poor, whilst other players have drifted in and out. Professional and experienced players who should be performing better than they are, no matter what formation we use. No one really seems to want to take responsibility on the pitch. I predicted 10th at the start of the campaign. I thought we greatly overachieved last season, and with the squad we had with more fixtures I knew it would quite a difficult slog. However I never anticipated a season long spectacle of bland football and shocking away form, and most defiantly not fighting for survival.

Load of nonsense. There's a fair few of us not defending Pardew in any way who also think the players are heavily to blame.
-
Aye, we should be trying to knock Man Utd off there perch. So you're happy to concede the Europa positions to Liverpool and Everton then? Didn't say that, that's ideally what I want us to do.

A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any of the following seven offences: denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player's goal by an offence punishable by a direct free kick or a penalty kick An absurd rule really. Mingolet deliberately breaks the rules to prevent a goal yet it isn't worthy of punishment. Crazy, should be a red all day long for me.

I think he's ok but Pardew will probably revert him to right back or something, thus sapping the energy out of him.
-
The fans turned against him when we played Reading and I think they will do it again. The difference being that after Reading we had lots of matches to play. After the mackems we had 5.

We need a manager who can change a game - this one can't and he's proved it time after time.... Actually he can change a game. We start off a good number of games pretty well and by the end of we are usually all over the place following his comical substitutions. Aye, immensely annoying that. Chelsea at home I reckon he was gunna dee it aswell but thankfully we equalised just in time.

High quality fullback who we are extremely fortunate to have at Newcastle.

0-1 Sissoko im going for. Ahh mindless optimism. -
This thread if we lose badly tomorrow man...

I get behind the team every game and have never sang about Pardew. If it's positive noise its all good imo. Wether that be the manager or the players.
-
TBF I couldn't fathom why anyone was chanting "Alan Pardew's Black & White Army" even before it was clear we were totally dead and buried...but they f***ing well were. There's still quite a difference between the mood on here and the mood on the terraces, IMHO. As odd as it is it's not the worst thing in the world is it? Attempting to get behind the team.
-
Yup, my gut feeling was we'd start like we did and the excuses were already in place with the match we played on thursday. Some were anticipating a rout from us for some crazy reason.
-
Down to stunned disbelief I think that. No one could quite fathom out how shite we'd been.
-
My feeling is that most percentage of the stands have kept tight lipped because of a) last season and b) a lack of investment in the summer - and also as past experiences have shown, wild protest from the stands whilst tempting more often than not have a detrimental affect with goings on on the pitch (See Hull city game at SJP). It won't last though and sunday really could be the catalyst for what probably is justified negativity. Pardew has been unbelievably lucky to have such patient support at Newcastle, but the continued garbage being served up is beginning to get really tiresome, eventually the fans will turn if it keeps up. Reading at home turned ugly but results picked up after.

I think a more balanced look is this. Perch Sissoko Cabaye Ben Arfa Gouffran Cisse Perch just sitting in front of back four but will need to play well. Sissoko box to box and Cabaye doing what he does best. That formation is hugely dependent of Ben Arfa starting like. If he doesn't we'll likely see Moussa in that role which he blatantly does not suit. -

Tiotes loss is probably welcome if we're harsh. Perch or Anita there will do. With Ben Arfa back it might give the side some balance. He can play on the right and Sissoko can drop back into CM.
