Before we bid we must have an idea of how much they want for a player, and how important that player is to Eddie. We lost Pedro over haggling £10/£20 mil but then offered more than what we were willing to spend on Pedro for Ekitike. A player who is more of a risk and is not PL proven. If they had just offered Brighton the £60 mil they wanted for Pedro he could be a Newcastle player now. And this isn't a criticism of Eddie more of PIFs strategy.

This is a test for PIF more than anyone else - if they really want us to be No.1 how they handle this for me is a bit of a sliding doors moment.

This is another Mitchell mess as he seemingly vetoed giving him a new deal. Our hand would have been a lot stronger if we'd given him a new contract last season.

It's ruining the game but is working to design. Everyone knows it has zero to do with sustainability. For anything to change the rules have to change and nothing will happen until a club challenges them in the courts. Sadly PIF seem to have zero appetite to do so.

They definitely have taken notice of our success in the transfer market and only seemingly take interest in a player who we start targeting. It's happened too many times to be a coincidence. All the more reason to look to get the deals done quickly rather than haggle over 10/20 mil. The owners just have to accept we're potentially going to have to over pay for a player we really want.

The problem we have is PIF who seem determined to get the best possible deal - if you watch the Amazon doc with the Gordon transfer we nearly lost the deal over £5mil.

Al-Rumayyan needs to fly in to sort this out - give him a new contract that befits his talent to help put this to bed.

In that I am being ridiculous? Isak is the main man - all of this speculation around him has to be filtering down. Impossible for it not to.
