Umbro are the top dog kit makers these days.

I remember when we did the double dip for him and Lascelles from Forest. In the grand scheme of things, good signings both. Especially when you consider that we also brought in Rivière, Colback, and S. de Jong that window.

Going to be ruined by whatever sponsor gets slapped on the chest.

At this rate he might be ready for PL football by the time he’s 30.
-
£400K or £4m makes not a single difference in the grand scheme. It’s about moving him off the books and out of the squad entirely. Best of luck to him, hope he does well with Leeds.

factoring in amortisation, aye.

Nothing really new here, but always good to get third party validation: https://themastermindsite.com/2023/07/26/why-harvey-barnes-is-perfect-for-newcastle-united/

That he wanted to fight for his place?

You’re thinking of MLS now, but I’m talking about the MLS of 20 years from now. Even someone like Yedlin is miles better than the average MLS player of 20 years ago, and he’ll eventually be eclipsed. I’m not convinced the Saudis have a sustainable business model. They’re really just gonna throw money at top players indefinitely? Think they’ll likelier to fuck it all off after they’ve secured their inevitable World Cup. Anyhoo, it’s all speculative at this point. I just wouldn’t sleep on it!

Don’t most English clubs bus their squads several hours across the country for matches? We have planes here that accomplish the same. not to mention that Europe-based players already have to travel across the continent for UEFA competitions. Doubtful MLS will ever be the pre-eminent sports league in the U.S., but it’s a massive sports market with a lot of space.
-
I’m not even an MLS fanboy, but the league is on the right path. Steady growth, financially stable, state-of-the-art facilities. Already attracting top South American talent with higher wages (or at least, guarantees that they’ll be paid on time ) than Argentinian or Brazilian clubs can offer. For most European players, prospect of living and playing in the U.S. is a far easier sell than Saudi Arabia, China, etc. It’s not anything imminent, but 20 years from now I’d not be surprised if MLS were competing for the Tonalis and Isaks in their prime.

I am a shit gambler to be fair.
-
I’d still put my money on MLS being the biggest long-term competitor to the European leagues.
-
These aren’t the same thing though.

Had he been any other nationality, he might’ve turned out a decent player. He was overhyped to death by U.S. media and the broader soccer community.

Kuol and the Gang, including (London)Derry Murkin and Josh “Cap’n” Flint.

X number of pages of anything but transfer rumors. Take it to one of the billion other threads you sweaty weirdos.
-
I’m not convinced that the Saudi league paying well above market value for a bunch of players past their prime is indicative of a major shift in the global football power structure. Your midtable PL club can still blow most European clubs out of the water when it comes to transfer fees and wages on offer.

take away his *checks notes* 310 goals and assists in all competitions over the past 6 seasons and what has he got really

Interesting that the Qataris would accept a bid from the Saudis. May not have happened at all several years ago.
