Elliot's really not that bad. As a second-choice keeper, he works. Came up big for us on a few occasions. I'm not opposed to bringing-in a young keeper for grooming, assuming Krul might be off to greener pastures in the future. But we don't need to bring the walls down looking for a staunch back-up.

I follow Newcastle with all the fervor I do the other teams I follow. But it's not life or death for me, nor do I have some deep-seated hatred for a club/city/people that mean nothing to me. I respect the rivalry and don't want them to succeed, that should be sufficient. If that doesn't make me a true fan of the club, whatever. I'm gonna stick around here and I don't really need vindication. I don't find it shocking, its a diff mentality, plus factor in A) your not from newcastle b) you're american and its fairly easy to understand. Irrelevant is probably the best word to describe Sunderland. I understand that the rivalry between the cities of Newcastle and Sunderland extends back a good long time and is about more than just football, but it just seems like a city/club/fanbase not worth the time of day.

He's always been a soft-spoken guy. Never one to be a vocal leader on the field for the U.S., which is why he's not spent much time as captain imo (though he was LA's captain for a long-time).
