  1. Elliot's really not that bad. As a second-choice keeper, he works. Came up big for us on a few occasions. I'm not opposed to bringing-in a young keeper for grooming, assuming Krul might be off to greener pastures in the future. But we don't need to bring the walls down looking for a staunch back-up.

    Darren Bent

A fit Bent is Best, but a fit Best is better than a bent Bent.

    Darren Bent

Resigned to the fact that they'll spend the entire summer hammering out the perfect deal to land Bent, leaving the rest of the squad barren come the start of the season.

Apparently Vancouver's Camilo is working on his Canadian permanent residency/citizenship. So they might actually have a goal-scorer in the next 5 years. Know much about that Cavallini kid, playing in Uruguay?

    Sunderland

Sunderland seems to define itself rather negatively, by what it's not (Newcastle). Which is always a pathetic form of identity.
  7. Prolific striker at Scunthorpe and Celtic, but is he good enough to do the business in the PL? I've not seen much of him.

Dick. You're pushing hard for that Foreigner of the Year award.

Canada's interim manager should be fired from his club team after this Gold Cup performance.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what's so shocking about this concept. Y'all would feign outrage if I was like, "Hahah yeeaaah fuckin' Mackem scum, go back to your craphole city. Look at me, I'm so Geordie." Because I'm not from Newcastle and never will be. I'll not pretend I'm something I'm not. At the end of the day, it's a sports team. I follow Newcastle with all the fervor I do the other teams I follow. But it's not life or death for me, nor do I have some deep-seated hatred for a club/city/people that mean nothing to me. I respect the rivalry and don't want them to succeed, that should be sufficient. If that doesn't make me a true fan of the club, whatever. I'm gonna stick around here and I don't really need vindication. I don't find it shocking, its a diff mentality, plus factor in A) your not from newcastle b) you're american and its fairly easy to understand. I hate sunderland and always will, its in my DNA and I can't change that. It's not the same for all people though. You made a conscious choice to support us (unlucky ) and the growth of American football will mean something to you. However I WILL draw the line at wanting him to score against us!! Yeah sorry that post wasn't directed at you. I think we're on the same page.

Fill-in vote: 4-2 with a Jozy brace, and we started Williamson at CB.

A regular Benedict Arnold this one.
  17. Darren O'Dea to transfer from Toronto, with ol' Steve Caldwell set to take the captain's armband.

    Sunderland

Irrelevant is probably the best word to describe Sunderland. I understand that the rivalry between the cities of Newcastle and Sunderland extends back a good long time and is about more than just football, but it just seems like a city/club/fanbase not worth the time of day.

He's always been a soft-spoken guy. Never one to be a vocal leader on the field for the U.S., which is why he's not spent much time as captain imo (though he was LA's captain for a long-time).

Ashley has done a great job generating revenue. For a mid-table team. Which is this club's ceiling at the moment, and something nobody should be satisfied with.
