That's a way of looking at it that I hadn't considered

I agree that thread is an abomination. After N'Diaye who are the other three? Yes I did fall into the 'Poirot' trap. Perhaps I should have said French-based. But you knew what I meant and resorted to nit-picking.Surely you are not condoning the arrant racism of that thread because I got the numbers wrong. Akin to shouting racist abuse at a players mother, OK because it was only one players mother. Shame, you were shaping up as quite sensible and now you have to go back and start all over At what point did I condone racism? I said that the thread was an abomination and have never uttered a racial slur in my life. I was just confused as to which French players you were referring. I do apologise if I've offended you in some way. As for Bent's mother, if you want to tar all our fans with the same brush then go ahead. I don't find racism acceptable and said as much in my first few posts on here. Well I played a blinder there with that reply. I was referring to the thread on RTG and not to you. Reading it back it does not make that clear. So my apologies to you as it was not my intention to infer that you were making racist remakes. No bother. I quite like it here and wouldn't like to have to start from scratch again )

Absolutely this. No idea what he's on about tbh. What on earth did the racist abuse of a players mother have to do with me asking how many French players we had in our squad?

  6. There were loads of positives today until the manager decided to change it. This is your problem. He has to go and he has to go now.
  7. You'll stay up At the minute you're very bad. I've seen it a few times. The inability of a manager to defend a result. The utter lack of ambition on the pitch. The unwillingness of players to move for one another. That said there's too much shite in this division. QPR have too far to go. Southampton will go now after sacking Adkins imo. Which leaves yourselves, Reading, Wigan and Villa. I think you have more than those three... Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Cisse, Coloccini, Krul etc I know its a cliché but they're too good to go down...
  8. I can see why he prefers Weimann and Benteke, but people go on about that freezing out, whilst forgetting Lambert actually made him captain at one point, and that he's been out with a couple of injuries, too. Bent not playing isn't our problem. Our major problem is a dreadfully lightweight midfield, which allows pressure to be put on the defence, which is also lightweight and inexperienced. If in this window we sign at least a tough central midfielder, a left back and maybe a CB too, we'll stay up. If we don't, we are done for. Any idea if the rumour you owe us more money if Bent plays another league game is true? It's nonsense. Honestly can't see why he isn't starting every game then. Goals win you games and he'll get about 20 a season if he plays regularly. Brummie has explained many times why he isn't starting and why he believes it's correct. Found a post earlier in this thread suggesting that Weimann and Benteke work better as a partnership and that Bent has been out injured a bit... fair enough. I'd wager if Bent was up top on his own he'd score more than those two as a partnership. Just something doesn't seem right to me.

Seems to be a replacement for Bramble or Kilgallon. As for N'Diaye I've never heard of him but we've been crying out for a presence in midfield all season. Hopefully he is it.
  13. Would be a great signing for you to be honest. Only down side is he plays right side in a front three which is where Ben Arfa is at his best?

Having a very good season. Remarkable improvement on last year. His distribution is the only thing that has let him down.

I wouldn't Why? Granted Mignolet is a cracking keeper but Nani is an quality footballer and can be almost unplayable on his day. Wouldn't think it would be too hard to find a replacement as good as Mignolet. I wouldn't swap Krul for Nani like although I think Krul is a lot better than Mig. We already have enough wide players. Nani's wages would be sky high and he seems to have the type of attitude that would see him underperform for us. Mignolet is an excellent keeper, still young, plenty of premier league experience and still nowhere near his prime. I hope we hang onto him for as long as possible.
  17. Carroll was the league's best centre forward?

He gives 100%, scores the odd long ranger. His positioning, particularly at set pieces is woeful for a Premier League defender. Has done a good job and currently our longest serving player but I think a lot of fans have wanted us to move on from him for a while now. Bit like yourselves and Simpson. f*** OFF Is there really any need?

I've never really seen him be caught out of position but then again I'm used to Phil Bardsley at full back.

TBF, they're just a wee club from the North-East. If they want to throw 10M at us - as many of them seem to - then I think that might do the trick. It's instructive how different their reaction is to Villa and Swansea's, though. Swansea loved Caulker, but knew that we'd only loaned him out to get game time, and that there was no chance of buying him. They were just happy to have him in their team. Villa were less happy to be helping us out, but for the most part accepted that he was going back to Spurs at the end of the season. Sunderland just sound a bit desperate. I think the desperation stems from us not having any real quality at full back since Makin and Gray more than a decade ago. Christ, Gardner looks a lot better there than some of the dross we've had over the years. That said I wouldn't pay £10m. Between £5m and £8m seems about right to me. Yeah, 10M sounds like a no-brainer. I'd be extremely surprised if we went for 5, but 8M might be a tough decision. The main issue is that we really do need a back-up at LB, and there aren't many out there. What do you think of him? I'd love to take most RTG comments at face value, but I worry that he's being over-praised. He hasn't convinced me at all in our shirt, although there were signs that he could make a decent LB, given time. Honestly the praise he gets is justified. He has actually been that good. Strong in the tackle, great engine, supports the attack well and has a cracking left peg. What more do you want from a full back?
