    Alan Pardew

I just realise the top 6 have improved greatly over past couple of year and the task of catching them up is becoming harder. It's a tough league, just got to try and keep pushing on and bring the calibre of players like Remy to the club. Not an easy task but we have improved the talent within our squad over the years but just not as quickly as the top teams can afford to do it. Ignoring the semantics of being a very good side for the moment (fwiw a very good side shouldn't be happy with 8th imo) I don't think those sides have improved in so much as the others have fallen away. The collective gap is still the same imo. The only teams that have clearly improved are Liverpool imo. Arsenal look better, but the rest have dropped a level in quality or remained the same, imo. I Think we discuss improved it's very much "on paper" are present. Sure the likes of Swansea, Norwich, Spurs etc have improved their squad on paper but at the minute the results aren't bearing it out. I think that a good season for us would be a cup and a finish of 8th personally.

    Something Altidore will never do.

Yea he's not much of a goal threat though. I think he runs the channels and holds the ball up quiet well. I think he's more athlete than footballer though
  4. No idea why spurs bought him tbh. Another poacher when they already have Defoe. A lukaku / benteke would have been a better signing imo
  5. Stupid but true - refs are not supposed to caution the player as long as there is contact. Thank you for the enlightenment, I wasn't aware of that.
  6. Either these are fouls or dives, give a free kick or book the people going down

I wonder if anyone still believes appointing PDC was the right move. It was the right move for them, the error was giving him that 3 year contract lol Pretty sure they could have appointed a number of managers who would have given them the same 'bounce' without bulldozing the club. Either way it makes great entertainment

  9. Ronaldo is right, he got caught out a couple of times when diagonal balls we're played in and around him. Also is far too hoof happy for some reason, I'm 99% sure we've been told to get the ball forward as early as possible though
  10. Campbell is too small to be a force in the PL....he has pace but would find it tough against all but the poorest PL sides. Look at the impact Rooney made at 18 and players like Gazza and Shearer at the same age....if you are really star material it should be showing by that age. The fact that Campbell is not part of the first team scene tells you that either a) He is not rated as first team squad material or b) the manager you frequently defend is a poor judge of a player. The only way I could see Campbell being used properly is if we had a big target man who could lay the ball off for him or take the pressure off him from Centre Backs - and neither Remy nor Cisse are this type of player. Take your choice..... Well we know he's a poor judge of player from his past. Tevez and Mascherano warming the bench for Wet Spam.
  11. I love watching Neymar, he's got that I just want to play football attitude

Still 5 years less than Pardews Pardew gets a years wages if he gets sacked. So no - no it's not. We all hope this is the case

  14. This! I hope the stick with him it will come good.
  15. Great assist from Jesé though.
  16. I thought the chance had gone when he didn't square it. Carlo has a lot of work to do. Madrid cocked up selling Higuain leaving them with Just Benzema and Morata.
  17. Roma are flying I can't believe how open Serie A is this season some really good stuff being played.
  18. Gervinho looking like his old self for Roma
  19. Yea I find it astounding they didn't give him the game time they needed to keep him.

I'd rather we have a more complete striker than bent tbh. Bent and cisse far too similar That'd cost money. Bent wouldn't have. Defoe has 7 in 4 starts this season too btw. Bent did cost money though, and decent wages too. I'd jump at Defoe, Bent not so much. He'd have cost a fraction of what a "complete striker" would have cost and would score just as many goals. I'm sorry I don't agree with this. Bent doesn't guarantee goals especially in a team like ours that doesn't create much. Personally speaking I'd like to see us move away from poacher types and look at players with more to their games, due to the often oceans of space between our lines we need someone who can offer more. Bent is washed up and past his best looking for yet another Gravy train to jump on the days of us signing players like that are hopefully behind us.

I'd rather we have a more complete striker than bent tbh. Bent and cisse far too similar Except Bent's been getting goals this season after a hell of a lot on here (if not the majority) were glad we didn't sign him. I'm glad we didn't sign him, 70k a week ex mackem no thank you. I'd rather we bought someone who brings more to the team and as some others have said if we can't create chances for Cisse then Bent would be in the same boat
