  1. Legends marra. They deserve a statue......(or at least a burning cross) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1231839/Darren-Bents-mother-racially-abused-Sunderlands-loss-Wigan.html http://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/crime/sunderland-monkey-chant-fan-banned-after-racist-gesture-at-west-brom-s-lukaku-1-5921859 http://metro.co.uk/2012/02/27/sunderland-fan-peter-copeland-avoids-jail-for-racist-tweets-about-newcastle-united-striker-demba-ba-333209/ http://www.theguardian.com/football/2011/jan/16/fa-sunderland-pitch-invader-steve-harper-newcastle We could all be selective about how appalling other teams fans can be. I think the best stance to take is to admit every club has fans that are disgraceful, and then make sure the good fans condemn them unreservedly.
  2. The whole of that could be directed at Newcastle. The whole of North East football, apart from the fans, is a joke.
  3. We said that when you went down, and so did many Newcastle fans, mainly because of the twat that owns you.
  4. Bloody hell, I've only been away for a day or two and it's gone mad. OK, that performance against Hull was rank, especially after watching your lot tear them a new one and after our performance in the cup final. I was more than pissed off just after the game. But I've calmed down, taken stock, sobered up, and decided our glass is still very much half full. When Poyet took over we had 1 point, we were an absolute shambles, playing shit, and had a squad which was imploding and were a laughing stock. If you'd asked me then would I take a Capital One Cup final, a FA Cup quarter final, beating the Mags twice (sorry), playing some decent football, have 24 points, and having our destiny very much in our own hands in March I would have snapped your hands off. Yes, we're still in the shit and we could still go down, but this is the most I've enjoyed a season since Peter Reid was here
  5. We have Cardiff, West Brom, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Everton and Swansea at home and Norwich away. If we can't get enough points to stay up from those fixtures, then we deserve to go down. I reckon there's 3 from 6 to go down :- Norwich Sunderland Palace West Brom Cardiff Fulham Of those, only Fulham look nailed on at the minute.
  6. I agree with most of this. One of my Geordie mates said to me today "We deserve to win something". When I asked him what made Geordies, Mackems or anyone else more deserving than other fans he was stumped. I told him you could argue that fans that follow teams like Crew, Southend, Halifax etc. probably deserve more for their support than fans like us who support 'bigger' clubs like ours.
  7. No, I'm getting the point completely, and actually agreeing with you to a certain extent. But where I disagree, is telling someone whos intentions are good, to go and fuck themselves. I also don't know a single Sunderland fan who expects to be commended for behaving properly at a football match. As for doffing caps. I've done no such thing, and neither have most Sunderland fans. What we have done is recognised we got beaten by the better team.
  8. You say I've completely missed the point, but your exact quote is this ;- "If we received such a patronising little pat on the head from someone who just gave us a howking in a cup final I'd tell them to go f*ck themselves." I'd never tell anyone to go and fuck themselves, regardless as to whether I thought they were being condescending or not, especially when I'm certain their intentions were good. The atmosphere at the final on Sunday was very friendly, and that article simply underlines that fact. I'm sure Newcastle fans have received praise for their behaviour many times after wins and defeats, and not found it patronising. I'm sure there's hardly any Sunderland fans who expect to be praised for being well behaved, but when the praise does come it should be welcomed and not condemned.
  9. What is it with their constant desire to be liked by others? If we received such a patronising little pat on the head from someone who just gave us a howking in a cup final I'd tell them to go f*ck themselves. It's not about being liked, or disliked. It's about treating fellow fans as you would wish to be treat yourself. There should be more behaviour like this, rather than the hatred that we sometimes see post match. Most Sunderland fans, like me, expected a defeat but hoped that we could sneak a win. It came as no surprise that City lifted the cup, so there was no need for anger or resentment. The fans were there to party and hopefully win a long awaited cup, not to cause trouble, and that should be commended not condemned. The fans that travelled down to London over the weekend have been widely praised by almost everyone who encountered them. There was an estimated 35,000+ Sunderland fans there, and only 5 arrests according to the MPS. If I ever seen a Sunderland fan doing what the lad in the link below has done, I'd be embarrassed for him :- https://www.facebook.com/adam.southern1
  10. This is turning into a really shit Spanish lesson
  11. Hendo might be back at Wembo very soon. He's a good lad Jordan. A real good pro, doesn't drink, still visits his old school, and has his feet firmly on the ground thanks to his family. It's a shame more pro footballers aren't like him. Oh, and he's turned into a rather good footballer since he left us !
  12. This, there's nothing "small town" about it (and Newcastle is hardly a f***ing "small town" in any case ) It's competitive sport, fair play there's no real need for the violence or excess grief but wearing the oppositions shirt, attending their cup final and cheering them on is cringe inducing in the extreme, I imagine the vast majority of the mackems there thought the same too. I couldn't do it if the roles were reversed. I took my two boys to the Discovery Museum in Newcastle a while back, and there's a NUFC exhibition in there, it's very good actually. One of my lads picked up a black and white scarf and asked me to put it on. I told him never in a million years !
  13. I've been saying this for a long time. How amazing would it be if we could have banter about our successes, rather than taking the p*ss out of each other because of our failures ? We can always hope. Anyway, I had an amazing day yesterday with my 10 year old son. I'll not lie, I was gutted by the result, but very pleased with the way the team played. Two wonder goals finished us off, and sometimes you have to hold your hands up in defeat and admit the better team won. As a Sunderland fan, days like yesterday don't come very often, and I lapped it up. I want more, and if we beat Hull at the weekend we could be doing it all again ! Special mention for the referee yesterday, he was excellent. Back to the real world today though, and most of the league results went our way over the weekend, so it's not all doom and gloom. Glad you had a good day out with your son. Aye it was brilliant, he takes defeat better than me, which is a useful attribute when you're a Sunderland fan
  14. Indeed, although we had a few like that who then lost their marbles after a derby defeat, that'll be the acid test Might be a while before we get another derby
  15. We'll never get rid of these people, and the internet makes the problem 100 times worse. There was an even worse one but the person whose status it was on has deleted it sadly. Basically that mackems have had relegations and still get 40k a match yet we have had loads of relative success and we only got 16k before KK turned up Fair credit to you though, giving it a go was more than we did. Aye, we did OK, but City are a different class when they turn it on. Fair play to them, I like their fans and Maine Road used to my favourite away trip. As for this 1992 bollocks, I really don't know why some Sunderland fans still bleat on about it. The stats are in Newcastle's favour when it comes to attendances. I'm looking forward to next weekend now, but I need to give my poor liver a rest !

  17. Theres that "class" word being used again, salt of the earth the mackems wheras we are all just scum with a nice city that we collectively love to smash up. I told my wife I can't help being a hooligan, it's because i'm a nufc fan and she will have to live with that. This Class my arse they are a bunch of small time chips on their shoulders living in the dark ages odious pricks Class isnt leaving covent garden looking like a f***ing bombsite god I despise these horrible b******s A bomb site ? It was a massive street party. It was no different to any other large event. Have you seen the state of Notting Hill after the carnival ? The Metropolitan Police have praised the fans for their behaviour over the weekend. Only one arrest the last time I looked. Even that pratt of a Tory MP is backtracking on his pathetic comments regarding Covent Garden. Yes there was lots of litter, but nothing was broken, wrecked or vandalised. If we beat Hull next week then at least the good people of London know what to expect, because the fans will be doing it all over again.

If by excellent, you mean he let everything go your way then yeah, you're spot on Fair play to you though, I'm very jealous that we haven't looked like we could get past a pub team in the cups the last few years, let alone make it to a final. No, I thought he let a lot go from both sides. I may not have been entirely sober mind A great day though, it's such a shame we don't have many of them around these parts.
  19. I've been saying this for a long time. How amazing would it be if we could have banter about our successes, rather than taking the piss out of each other because of our failures ? We can always hope. Anyway, I had an amazing day yesterday with my 10 year old son. I'll not lie, I was gutted by the result, but very pleased with the way the team played. 20. That's sad. I hope if Newcastle ever get to a final we have a little more class than that. Anyway, I'm off to the pub today, I've got tomorrow off work, the sun is shining, and I'm going to have a party. I'll be back tomorrow, win or lose, and hopefully my hangover won't be too bad To the fans on here who have wished us the best, I salute your honesty. To the ones who want us to get hammered......Well, I understand that emotion too, as I know some Sunderland fans can be right arseholes.
  21. Hopefully the police will get him and he'll be made to go to the SoL for life. Scum. FYP. Aye, that was a tap in for ya
  22. Hopefully the police will get him and he'll be banned from the SoL for life. Scum.
  23. I wouldn't. I spoke to three Mags at work today, and two of them said they want us to win it on Sunday. They are good lads mind, salt of the earth. The 3rd lad can't bare the thought of us winning it, not because I would take the piss (I wouldn't do that, well just a gentle ribbing) but because he is convinced that Newcastle deserve to win a trophy before us. Any chance you lot can beat Hull tomorrow and keep them in the relegation mix ? Steve Bruce, who I normally think is a decent bloke, is starting to get on my tits.
  24. Wigan weren't flukey, they were the better team on the day.
