Having run through the replay of the goal a few times, given the angle, trajectory and speed of the cross it would have been a really difficult one for the keeper to come out and claim.

Exactly. It would be such a low percentage move as well and if he doesn't get there in time he'd get dogs abuse anyway for giving their attacker a free header.

The only way to achieve 60k+ is to expand the Gallogate, surely? But they've just about completed the Stack which is to remain in place for 3 years. Something doesn't tally.

The Stack is literally just shipping containers. You can pick it up and move it in a week if needed.

So around 12 million pounds not bad. He must be kicking himself mind turning us down to end up at frankfurt.

Bit of English bias going on here mind, Frankfurt are higher than us in the league [emoji38]

We should obviously avoid too much reaction to any player's mistakes, but you have to be realistic.

I think 'limited' is a bit generous a term really. I would say someone like Burn is limited... good at certain things but has weaknesses and can't do certain things well.

Longstaff is 'poor' rather than limited, he doesn't have any particular strengths and doesn't have a position that he's good at.

That said, I feel bad always posting about how shit he is so I will try to leave off  The idea was for him to be a sub when Tonali got tired, so he really shouldn't be playing.

You're also posting about an injured player. And one that was rightly described as one of the first names on the teamsheet last year. It's very odd in that context to be saying he's a poor player.

He's been absolutely fine this season when fit, saved us plenty of points as well.

If he had the full season I think he'd be posting Anthony Gordon numbers tbh (perhaps with less penalties won).

Problem is every other keeper in the league is off his line to claim that or get a fist on it. See the deficit?

Strongly disagree for the reason in my comment above. Keepers don't come for those sort of crosses for good reason.

Beaten by a header in his own six yard box - he is actually allowed to move towards the ball

Nah, there's a difference between a cross coming in from the wing and a whipped cross coming in from centrally, he would have no chance to get near that ball.

  8. Saw the stick he was getting for the first goal and thought he’d fucked up badly for it.

Just watched MOTD and Christ, it was a point blank header that went through his legs before he had a chance to move ffs.

I'm starting to think that our players struggle when there's any pressure on them from a long term target. They went to shit last season when they'd got to the FA cup final, they've gone to shit this season when someone's told them we need to get high enough to get european footy next season.

I mean this is nonsense. We were under extreme pressure to get top four last season from around ten games out.

Thanks for that amazing insight Nostradamus, wish I’d seen the quote earlier I’d have asked for the Euromillions numbers

So you first give a completely irrelevant answer, then acted the prick, nice one [emoji38]

Because Karius is leaving in the summer? ??‍♂️

And we'll sign a new third choice keeper. How does that explain the last two seasons?

  12. 2 hours ago, Wallsendmag said:

He's been a free agent all season.

I quoted the wrong post sorry. I meant your point about Karius being the better option.

Nobody has bothered to take a punt De Gea. He's better than Dubravka as well.

What possible evidence do you have to suggest this?

Have to bounce back with a win here. Feel like 6th or 7th is all going to come down to the game at Old Trafford, but can't afford any more daft dropped points at home. I still get angry when I think where we'd be with those extra 4 points from the Luton and Bournemouth home draws.

People keep saying this but ignore the extra 3 points we gained from the West Ham game when we could easily have drawn/lost.

To be fair at the time we'd paid £60+million for a striker who'd scored 6 goals in 32 league games in the previous season. For comparison Nicholas Jackson has 10 in 29 this year. McTominay has 7 in 27.

I'm not asking his view last summer. I'm asking whether Froggy thinks it was a good price now.

I didn't gloat. I said it was a huge fee for someone who scored 1 in 3 in La Liga. It was a huge fee. I stand by everything I said. Friendly reminder Martial had more goals and assists per 90 than Isak last season. Isak is clearly talented, but he's only managed to make the pitch for 50% of your minutes this season. Lets calm it down a little before acting like £65m was some sort of magic bargain.

Also, Casemiro was one of the most important players in getting us back into the Champions League and winning our first trophy in years. It was hardly a laughable signing.

Wait - you don't think £65m was a good price for Isak?

    Updated 23/04/24

    Injuries:

Nick Pope - Shoulder - possible end of season return

Joelinton - Thigh - possible end of season return

Callum Wilson - Pectoral - back in training

Kieran Trippier - Calf - possible end of season return

Sven Botman - ACL - may be out until December

Lewis Miley - Back - out for the season

Jamaal Lascelles - ACL - may be out until December

Tino Livramento - Ankle - possible end of April return

Miguel Almiron - Knee - possible end of season return

Matt Targett - Achilles - news awaited

Joe Willock - Achilles - out for the season

    Suspensions:

Sandro Tonali - Gambling Addict - Returns from 27th August 2024

Why is Tino slated for a possible end of April return when he came off the bench in the last game?

  18. One thing jumped out at me on the recent season ticket quote:

    Quote

The club has once again frozen prices for all junior categories, while thousands of supporters will continue to pay prices set during the 2011/12 season as part of a long-term price freeze deal.

This is mental - almost 15 years of the same price set under Ashley. Do supporters under that deal have the right to just keep renewing indefinitely?

Wilson has always been a crock everywhere hes been under various different managers, I think whatever his workload hes always going to be that player, hes just made of glass, hes a quality striker and its such a shame but if we can get any money for him in the summer 8 mil plus we should seriously consider it, provided we can replace him of course.

Edit: Would keep him around as a 3rd choice striker if we brought someone more reliable in as second choice, but I cant imagine Wilson going for that based off his character.

Even if he was technically 'third choice striker' he'd get plenty of minutes assuming we get into Europe. Isak will pick up more knocks.
