I’ll be sad about them leaving. The club got to them in a good way. They connected with the fans, the area etc. Little things like the windows eventually being washed, bringing Adidas back, and the Newcastle sign. I doubt any of that happaned without them getting to know the club, and listening to supporters.

What we have now is a group of people who will be very good at their job, but maybe not emotionally tied to us.

PIF now ultimately have the blank slate to make the difficult decisions. Ok long term they will likely all be best for the club, but you’ll likely have less input as a fan now. We’ll now likely have the new stadium, be it a rebuild, or a new location, it will have a sponsored name, and no longer be SJP (if it’s a rebuild). We’ll end up getting a new club badge. Popular, and local players will go for better players, possibly more evident this year with the women’s team.

We all know this was going to come eventually, but when those decision are made, and when we have things like the sign that is little in the grand scheme of things, but massive to the supporters, we’ll no longer have them there for us.

I hope they get some peace though. We all know about her lawsuits which is likely to leave PCP bankrupt, or not far off. Hopefully they are able to settle all of that, spend sometime with their son, and hopefully they are able to watch us as fans, and don’t go tying up another deal for say West Ham.

Above all else, hopefully this isn’t being pushed by Amanda’s medical condition.

There are SO many assertions in this post that are just complete bollocks [emoji38]

Seriously? I expect us to challenge for the top 4 this season. I don’t expect west ham too. We had an unprecedented injury crisis last season and still finished above them.

    fair play though.

And West Ham had a dreadful manager who pretty much destroyed his relationship with the fans in the final third of the season.

I expect us to finish above them as well but that wasn't the question - you asked if I think they will challenge for Europe.

Do I think West Ham will be in and around the top 7 given they finished 9th last year and have now improved their manager, spent £70m on players already and have no conference league fixtures to occupy them? Yes I do.

  3. Just now, r0cafella said:

Because we aren’t even in Europe and we are much better than them. Do you believe west ham will qualify for Europe?

I don't think we're much better than West Ham at all. I think there's a chance they'll qualify just as there's a chance we will. They were above us for the majority of the season.

Is he? I’m not sure he is tbh. If they can’t push for Europe then what’s the point? I think West ham have an issue with overall direction of the club what’s the actual goal? What do they hope to achieve?

Bottom line is they are unlikely to qualify for Europe, he’s on a massive wage and worth a lot of money if you sell him you save on his wages and bank a massive profit all whilst not having much impact on your league position. Perfect sale for them imo.

Why are they unlikely to qualify for Europe? They've been pretty much ever present in the top 7/8 until last season and now have a Europe free season to attack it with a better manager. There's no reason to suggest they won't be up there again.

We get scrutinised for selling a player to Saudi but Man United can flog a rapist for 40m. Aye nee bother.

    Rules are fucked.

I mean if you ignore the rapey part (which Spanish clubs seem happy to do) he’s quite clearly a 40m player.

Now Miley is injured we probably have to, yes

We have six central midfielders and one will miss the first 6 games of the season. I hardly think that means we have to sign one.

I know I might be the minority, but from the clips I saw, I think Minteh has world class potential. He has the tools required to start for any team in the future, he just need playing time to iron it out.

We have no choice, but I really wish we could insert a clause, even if it’s something like 70m.

We have had a phase where we have bought a lot of players but made little from sales, due to building up the squad depth that we need.

Now it is about upgrading those players and selling those coming towards the end of their careers or those who are not good enough for a Top Six squad, which is where we want to be consistently.

Presuming we have triggered the deal to sign Lewis Hall, I can see another 4 players coming in this summer with the same amount going in sales to help subsidise those signings.

We will turn a profit for PSR for last year now, if we can get somewhere close again this year then it should free up a lot of wiggle room for the following year.

No idea how you think we’ve made a profit for PSR last year. It’s not even close.

Minteh has been compared to Sadio Mane - both on the eye test and on the data. Bona fide wonderkid.

That means he could develop into a beast of a striker, who finishes. All that while operating from our weakest position, RW. A Salah, a Palmer, a Saka. These are obviously the best in the PL and this is all hopeful hype.

I would prefer we let either or any of the following leave for PSR (providing replacements are sourced before the season starts):

    Longstaff
    Anderson
    Wilson
    Targett
    Trippier
    Dubravka
    Lascelles
    Krafth
    Almiron
    Murphy
    Burn
    Willock
    Lewis
    Hayden
    Pope
    Kuol
    Ashby

    The only untouchables for me:

Bruno, Isak, Botman, Gordon, Barnes, Tonali, Miley, Kelly, Hall, Livramento, Schar

I’d love to see the evidence for you saying he’s a bona fide wonder kid like [emoji38]

It's the one thing I will never understand about us under Ashley. Guy was tight, and wanted club operate at a minimal cost. Then why not just invest loads into academy, produce players, and keep them moving on at a good profits all whilst maintaining the Prem money.

Just felt a straight forward strategy, but never followed it. After the Carroll move, it should've been a light bulb moment for doing that, but nope. We would've had a ceiling just being an outright selling club, but would've had some fun players come through the doors. Instead it's sign the likes of Hendrick, where it's low cost, but then no resale.

It was because since the first relegation he was constantly trying to sell the club throughout his tenure. Hence the stop gap, short term signings like Hendrick and extending the likes of Hayden, Ritchie, Dummett etc to keep the club ticking over.

Academy investment is a long term plan with no guarantee of success.

That depends what you define as a dud, for example Wood, Targett, Tonali, and Ashby would not be described as good signings at this point in time for one reason or another.

There is no real comparison with Gordon and Calvert Lewin, one was a youngster that had potential but was struggling to put it all together, where as Calvert Lewin was good 3 years ago, before having a serious injury and never looking the same player again.

Targett was a good signing for us initially. Wood did a job when we were in a desperate position. The idea that Howe and the scouting team take any responsibility for Tonali's hidden gambling addiction is an absolutely bizarre take [emoji38]

Anyone doubting a transfer is beaten with the Anthony Gordon stick.[emoji38]

And rightly so. We literally haven't made a dud signing since the takeover and people still spit their dummy out man. Has no trust been earned over the last two years?

I can't be mad at Olise picking Bayern, that's a great move for him, and progresses his career much more so than if he were to go to Chelsea.

    Williams please.

Why do people keep mentioning Williams. We have two left wingers already [emoji38]

Do you have to be a member to buy hospitality tickets or can you buy that without membership?

You can do it without, I did it a couple

of times last year. All the fixtures are up for sale from the start of the season.

I wouldn’t dare have the temerity to go against Orny.

6 year deal seems a bit of risk on our side mine given the injury record. I guess the other side of the coin is if he gets over his injuries we have tied down for a long time.

It isn't 6 though. The option is for us to extend if we want to - there's no obligation on our side.

  17. The squad announcement is huge for him. Not only has he made it in but his direct rival for the LW Grealish isn't in. It's basically him and Foden for the LW spot and if Foden is needed elsewhere or picks up a knock he's pretty much guaranteed a start as Bowen and Palmer won't play there.
