Yeah, but The World Cup is always the one where the country goes nuts during the mens, the expectation levels are so high. If England's men had won the Euro's that expectation would have been even higher for the mens World Cup. Not saying winning the mens Euro's wouldn't be an massive achievement, but The World Cup really is the pinnacle of international football isn't it ? Imo the Women are ahead of our men by winning the Euro's obviously, i suppose the only caveat is the women's game has less good international teams compared to the mens, but you can only play and beat who's there. And even a caveman like me would be blind not to see the women's game is coming on very fast. Whether it gets to the mens level is, i suppose is debatable. I wouldn't be surprised if it does, the barriers are well and truly down for women's football.

That's how i saw it, we didn't play well and yet i came away annoyed we lost. We've come so far in such a short period, it's not that we forget that, we just have more expectation that we haven't had for so long.

Their is a certain arrogance of successful clubs, and a rather distorted view from them of how they got to where they are. I sincerely hope if we do achieve some success we don't become as arrogant and forgetful of our journey.

You're not far wrong in what you say, but that kind of action then becomes a law issue, and the innocent until proven guilty aspect as well. That's a big can of worms to delve into and to try to get right and fair in a lawful way, that would protect the employee, any victim depending on what crime may have occurred, and employer for that matter. Also in sport (and politics especially) you seem guilty until your proven innocent, which always seems a tad unfair.

This is not to defend him as he's a scumbag, however as he's not being charged, we don't know behind the scenes that he's engaged in treatment for what's clearly a serious problem, and Man United could be providing the access to that, because of the duty of care employers have to provide by law, and would you think they would want to do for their employees. They've badly misread what the reaction of keeping him would be though, all the evidence was there for them to anticipate that. Just listening or reading what he said to his girl, his behaviour, the physical evidence, but the less cynical side of me doesn't think they should be criticised for trying to help him. They should imo have helped him, but also let him know despite the help he would no longer play for the club because of what he did, charges dropped aside.
