Newcastle United 1 - 0 Crystal Palace - Post match relief from p.32

Before today I thought we had no chance. If Norwich lose today, then we are at least back in with a shot of staying up. Impossible to say what will happen, but thankfully we are no longer cut adrift. -

The biggest difference today is the players fought for everything, they looked like they cared. Finally some joy, though it probably wont be enough unfortunately. -

At this moment in time, I am the personification of anxiety. -
I don't see us losing heavily like some are predicting, but the sad truth is that our team just isn't good enough to get a result here, unless we get incredibly lucky and decisions go massively in our favour. We really are not good enough, even when our players put in the effort, to stay up. We are now 6 points from safety, but norwich have a better GD by six, so it's basically a 7 point gap from safely. We simply wont get enough points to stay up, even if norwich crumble. I'm not sure I can even see us getting 7 points in TOTAL from our remaining games, let alone the 10/11 we will need at a minimum if norwich have a shocker. We managed to get a total of 1 point from 2 games against s*nderland and norwich, where the hell will 7 points come from in our remaining games. And we would need 7 only if norwich literally get no points at all from their remaining fixtures. I'll go with 1-0 to the saints.

Finishing above palace THIS season, after all that's happened, would quite simply be the greatest thing ever of all time ever ever ever. Oh the smugness, ooooooh....

If you want a place near the London eye then there's a sports bar right in waterloo train station which is next to the london eye. Like others have said, so many places will be showing the game, if you cross over waterloo bridge (from the south side to the north) and keep walking in that direction you're walking into covent garden area, tons of pubs and most will be showing the game. What's copenhagen like as a place to live?

I'm shitting myself over this. We may have to wait another 10-15 years just to get this kind of chance again. Me too, it actually made me far more nervous when he was appointed because we now actually have something to hope for, which means something to lose lol

Yup. Like most of the people we buy, they are players who need to be supplementary to the squad, not the first names on the team sheet. Guys like perez, mitrovic, wijnaldum, mbemba etc, they would all do much better at a club which could afford to bring them on when the game is already won, play them in cup games, and let them develop naturally. Putting the weight of this club on their shoulders is just far too much to ask. I do think mitrovic can turn into a solid number 9, but he needs to be given time to develop without too much pressure being put on him. You don't actually NEED pace to score goals in the PL if you're good enough, I mean giroud hasn't got pace but he puts away enough considering he isn't even arsenals penalty taker.

He just looks totally devoid of ANY confidence for me. He was sold a dream when he came here, he was the captain of PSV and I think this season has just destroyed his enthusiasm, I really don't think he knew what he was in for. When he picks up the ball he looks up, thinks about going forward/playing a pass, then loses confidence in his ability, turns around and plays a pass back or just switches play. Hopefully with Rafa in charge, we win enough games to stay up, Rafa sorts out the squad a bit and we see what this kid can do under the guidance of an actual manager.

This, this and this. Spurs are like Everton, desperately trying to move out of the bigger brothers shadow by telling everyone how good they are. Spurs fans are nowhere near as bad as Everton fans. Every everton fan I've ever met/seen online etc, always hates NUFC because "we think we're a big club" whereas I know lots of spurs fans, and they always have decent things to say about us - they actually know we are a big club which has been mismanaged to death. They also don't think they are as big as chelsea/arsenal etc, but to be fair they're not far off, got loads of money, based in london, new stadium being built, good manager, good players etc... Why shouldn't they be happy and a bit ambitious?

Completely agree. I think he started out actually as a CDM for Toulouse and then became more of a box to box midfielder, a role in which he flourished. He just isn't a number 10, certainly not a winger, and I would quite like to see him play alongside Shelvey in the 4-2-3-1 that Rafa plays. Your other point about playing players out of position is SO spot on, p*rdew did this so often it's a joke, how many times did we see cisse or remy out wide?! So many other examples to list, but I really feel we have destroyed quite a few careers due to our incompetent managers. I also really wish we could have had a manager who would have gotten the best out of ben arfa, i swear he had the potential to be special under the right tutelage.
